dabi, indeed, stayed true to his words

dabi, indeed, stayed true to his words. for the next few days, you were only seeing him when you returned home from work; he was waiting patiently for you at that alley.

yet, one day you didn't see him. and you coudldn't deny the feeling of worry that appeared, which got worse when a policeman asked you if you had seen him around.

apparently, a citizen from the neighborhood had called the police after witnessing an old man getting mugged.

you put on your most convincing face while you lied to that policeman, telling him that you never saw dabi around. thankfully, they didn't question you any further because hawks intervened.

the pro hero insisted on walking you home to guarantee your safety, his wings hiding you away from the flashing cameras.

"thank you" you softly said, when he left you at your door.

"what did we say last time?"

"that i shouldn't thank you for doing your job"

"and what did you do?"

"i thanked you for doing your job" you sighed.

"you didn't have to, you know! nothing would have happened!" you added.

"could i be sure about that, though?" he asked, raising an eyebrow.

"no, but what matters is that i was sure i'd be okay on my own!"

"and how do you know that?" he commented, leaning closer to you.

"um... gut instict, i suppose" you said, moving your face away from his.

a sigh left his lips at your answer, as he shook his head.

"i'm afraid your gut instict isn't a strong source for me to trust, doll"

"okay, sure. whatever you say, hawks" you answered, rolling your eyes.

he stayed silent, eyes locked on you. you raised an eyebrow, confused from his silence. he wasn't the type to ever shut his mouth.

"that's not my name" he said, after some time.

"yes, it is"

"it's not the name you should call me"

"okay, sure. whatever you say, keigo" you repeated.

"much better" he said, a big grin on his face.

he placed a kiss at the top of your palm, before turning around;

"get in your apartment, doll. don't want anyone stealing you"

"haha, super funny" you said, looking at his red wings while he walked away.

he turned to look at you, blowing a kiss your way before leaving through the big window on your floor.

you shook your head, a sigh leaving your lips as you unlocked your front door.

you hung your keys on their holder, as you removed your heels. you walked further into your apartment and towards the living room, leaving both your laptop bag and your bag on your small office corner.

you fished a scrunchie out of your bag and put your hair up, as you made your way towards your room. a scream left your lips when you saw someone, there, looking at your makeup vanity.

"fuck, pretty! you scared me"

"i scared you? what are you doing in my house?"

"i had to hide from the police, calm down" dabi said, before turning his head to the side to face you.

he looked at you up and down, an eyebrow raised and a smirk on his face.

"oh? i didn't know you could get prettier by simply putting your hair up" he commented, walking closer to you.

"how did you get in here?"

"you should find another place to hide your second key. under the outdoor door mat isn't the best option. you're lucky a thief didn't get in here, first"

"you can't be the one talking about thieves! you mug people on the daily!"

"you're wrong on that, pretty. i do it once or twice a week"

"oh, yeah, please forgive me" you said, resting your hands on your hips.

"you're forgiven, pretty"

he walked closer to you, standing in front of you. he couldn't get enough of that pout on your face. or the way you had to crane your neck so you could look at him. or the way your eyes simply focused on his.

"is the police still looking for me?" he asked, his thumb caressing your cheek.

"yes... they even asked me if i saw you around"

"and what did you say?"

"i lied"

"good girl" he whispered, making your cheeks turn red.

"did you say the truth to that bird brain that walked you home?"

"you were stalking me again?"

"you were literally outside the door. i just looked through the peephole"

"don't worry, i couldn't hear what you were talking about" he added.

"i'm not-"

"but... he should learn to keep his hands to himself" he interrupted you, leaning closer.

your gaze dropped from his eyes to his lips, as yours slightly parted. when dabi noticed that, he knew he had you. he leaned closer, his eyes staring at your glossy lips.

"don't want him touching what's mine" he whispered.

the little space that existed between you was long gone, the moment your lips met.

and just like that, you were officially kissed by a wanted criminal.
