when the war started, you had made sure to be updated all the time from the news. so far, you never once saw keigo anywhere. and that had worry etched to your core.

especially when you realized that touya was nowhere to be seen either. not a single frame of him was shown on any new article. and that only made your worry double in amount.

you were sitting on your couch, the last bouquet of flowers keigo left outside your door keeping you company. your fingers played with the petals of the red roses, as you kept on scrolling on your phone, in hopes to see any new updates.

little did you know that he was, currently, hurting one of your best friends from the league.

twice was pinned down, the tip of a blade pressed against the stitches on his forehead. hawks didn't expect him to mention you in between tears, and that only made him lower his guard.

and that proved to be the worst decision he had made so far. before he knew it, the wall exploded— blue flames engulfing the whole room. hawks closed his eyes shut the moment his goggles broke from dabi's stomping.

"looks like sentiment tripped you up after all, hero!"

he was lucky he managed to escape the flames on the last second, saving twice from getting burned.

"whatever. you've lost most of your weapons"

"and you nearly burned up your friend"

"nah... cause i know heroes... are always ready to save a life"

"such a cynic. and the force of that attack... it was almost like you knew about me already... what gave me away?" hawks asked.

"gave you away? nothing"

"i never believed anything from the start" dabi said, looking at him.

hawks knew that this was the case. of course, dabi wouldn't believe a hero like him. the hero who was always there when he had a relationship with you.

he pondered for a moment, trying to think of how to prioritize the mission. his wings were burned and crippled, and he knew that acting carelessly would only lead to his death. after all, dabi had the winning hand in the situation.

"burn 'im good" twice said, moving away from hawks.

"i said don't move!"

"go nuts, twice! the others are waiting for you! i'll take care of this little traitor!"

trying to avoid the fire, hawks flew outside and circled around back, his blade in hand— that was his chance of killing twice.

yet, he froze in place the moment his name rolled off dabi's tongue. he didn't know how him, of all people, found out who he was· you told him you never revealed it, after all.

even when he was burning, he moved around, finally putting an end in twice's life. it'd only get more chaotic if he kept him alive.

"you killed him. how could you?"

hawks was on the floor, trying to put out the fire that kept on burning him.

"how dare you kill twice like that!" dabi said, stepping on him.

"is that the face of a man who's just watched a friend die?" hawks coughed.

"hey, now! that was rude! i haven't cried since my tear ducts got all burned" he lied.

"with twice around, my dream had a better chance of coming true! so of course i'm sad he's gone! so, so sad"

dabi only kept on increasing the volume of his flames, looking down at hawks with a smile on his face.

"you and the league... i looked into your backgrounds! but i came up with nothing on you and shigaraki! only you two!"

"who... who are you?!"

time felt like it stopped for hawks, the moment dabi revealed himself. his eyes were wide, unable to believe that this was true. something that you were aware of, too.

"more than twice, more than anyone... you should've been keeping both eyes on me"

"and right now i'm gonna show you just how angry i am for what you did"

"i'm gonna make you pay for touching the woman who's mine"
