I was a wild being, a feral one, I put this world on my feet until you put the leash of love on me, and now I am yours, forever. I will always wear the talisman of your love on my chest.

Finally, you stood up and washed your face, cleaning off the remnants of his blood. You took a deep breath and opened the door lightly. Ghost stood up, his eyes filled with concern and determination.

No words were said as he took you into his arms. You clung to the hoodie he wore, tears streaming down your face. "Let yourself go, Aurora," he whispered gently. "Come."

He led you to the fireplace, where the flames cast a warm, comforting glow. He sat down, leaning against the wall, and you settled between his legs, leaning against his chest. His arms wrapped around you, holding you close, offering comfort and safety.

You could feel his steady heartbeat against your back, a soothing rhythm that helped calm the turmoil within you. As the fire crackled beside you, you allowed yourself to relax, to let go of the fear and the cravings, at least for a moment.

Ghost's presence was a balm to your frayed nerves. He didn't say anything more, just held you, his warmth seeping into your cold skin. You closed your eyes, listening to the sound of his breathing, feeling the rise and fall of his chest.

In that quiet, shared space, you found a sense of peace. The world outside was still harsh and uncertain, but here, in Ghost's arms, you felt a glimmer of hope. You weren't alone anymore. You had someone who understood, someone who would stand by you, no matter what.

As you drifted off to sleep, cocooned in his embrace, you whispered a silent promise to yourself: you would face whatever came next, and you would do it together.

You opened your eyes the next morning and felt yourself wrapped in soft sheets. You were laying on a bed. You turned, your eyes searching for Ghost, and you found him. He was asleep on the recliner. His eyes were closed, and his chest rose and fell with each breath he took.

You lay there, looking at his sleeping form. "If only I could see the man beneath the mask," you thought to yourself.

At that exact moment, he opened his eyes, looking directly at you. "Aurora! Did you say something?" he asked, his voice still heavy with sleep.

You blinked, surprised that he had heard your thoughts again. "No, I didn't say anything out loud," you replied softly. "But I was thinking... I was wondering what you look like under that mask."

Ghost's eyes darkened as he sat up, coming over to sit on the edge of the bed beside you, he put his elbows on his knees and looked at you.
"I have buried my real self many years ago," he said quietly. "Simon is no more. What exists of me is Ghost-that is what I am. I feel better this way."

You looked at him, seeing the pain etched in his eyes, the depth of his loss. "But why?" you asked softly. "Why hide yourself away like this?"

He sighed. "I've lost too much, Aurora. My family, my friends... everyone I cared about. The mask helps. It separates me from the pain, from the memories. It makes me the soldier I need to be."

"But you're more than just a soldier," you insisted. "You're a person, Simon. You have feelings, you have a heart. Hiding behind a mask won't change that."

He looked away, staring at a spot on the wall as if it held all the answers. "It's not that simple," he said. "The mask is my shield. It keeps me sane. It keeps me focused."

You reached out, placing a hand on his. "You don't have to hide from me. I see you, Simon. The real you."

He turned to look at you, his eyes searching yours for any hint of deceit. Finding none, he sighed again, a long, heavy sound. "Maybe someday," he said softly. "Maybe someday, I'll find the courage to face myself. But for now, Ghost is all I can be."
