Hanni and Danielle continued to chat all afternoon, laughing and catching up on everything.
"Come on, let's go to my restaurant for dinner," Danielle said, glancing at the time before standing up. "I recently hired a new cook, and I want you to try their dishes."
The delicacies at Cirrus Cloud were among its highlights. Their Western meals surpassed those of most Michelin starred restaurants. As they left the room, they saw several waiters carrying wine and fruit plates down the corridor. It was evident that other guests had arrived.
"Your membership fees for the third floor are so high. Do you have members who can rent out several rooms at once?" Hanni asked, curious.
"One or two," Danielle replied.
"And it's fine for us to use one of the rooms anyway?"
"It's my place," Danielle shrugged indifferently.
They continued toward the elevator. Just as they reached the halfway point down the corridor, Hanni suddenly heard someone say her name. She stopped, looking around, and realized someone inside a nearby room was mentioning her.
"Garam, I heard your sister doesn't like Hanni?" A young girl's voice echoed.
"Who are you calling my sister? My mom gave birth to me, but not to her." Replied a 20-year-old girl dressed in luxury brands. She was Kim Garam, daughter of the Kim family and Minji's half-sister.
"You still refuse to acknowledge her, even after your dad gave her the entire Kim Group?" A yellow haired boy chimed in.
"If I acknowledged her, that illegitimate brat would cause trouble," Garam said with disgust. "Do you know, when my dad first found her, she was picking up garbage in the slums, dressed in filthy clothes and pushing a broken tricycle filled with water bottles and cardboard from the trash. So disgusting."
"Ew..." Several voices exclaimed in disgust.
"But here's the funny part. When dad said he wanted to take her away, that dirty woman insisted on selling her junk. Guess how much money she got?" Garam asked.
"How much?" Someone inquired.
"19,000 won. The garbage man said she didn't have ten won change, so she was ten won short, hahaha... I just laughed to death."
Laughter filled the room.
"But things are different now. Even my dad can't stop praising Minji," Some in the room disagreed.
"No matter how high she climbs, she'll always be a filthy beggar," Garan smirked. "Why do you think she married Hanni? Hanni is well known in our circles. Being lowborn, she wanted a woman of good birth and a humble background to bury her past. She probably thought that by marrying a princess she could escape being a frog. Unfortunately, Hanni is now nothing but a fallen phoenix."
"Do you really believe Minji doesn't like Hanni at all?" The yellow haired boy asked.
"No wonder Minji went on a business trip."
"It's only been a couple of days since they got married, but she turns around and goes on a business trip?"
"Hanni unnie is really pitiful."
"Do you think you can still tolerate the rumors?" Danielle asked incredulously. "If you don't barge in there, I will."
Hanni stopped the rampaging Danielle, pushed the door open, and walked straight up to Kim Garam's face.
The elite circle in Seoul wasn't big so they were all familiar with each other from the various parties they attended. Besides, the Pham family was one of the top five richest before their fall so no one in the room didn't know what Hanni looked like. When she suddenly entered the room, several people shrank inwardly and didn't dare say anything. The previously rowdy room instantly quieted down.
