The next day, Hanni woke up sore for the second time in a row. Looking up to see Minji's wide grin, she felt an overwhelming urge to punch that proud face.
"Good morning," Minji said, lying on her side with one hand propping up her head. She had been staring at her wife for over half an hour.
"Help me up." Hanni tried to move, but after two consecutive days of overwork, all she felt was her aching back.
Hanni began to wonder if Minji was possessed. No matter how serious, indifferent, steady, or stupidly cute she acted, Minji had always been obedient and calm. Yet somehow, the moment they got to bed, her wife transformed into an animal.
"I'll rub it for you." Minji noticed her wife frown and knew it must be because of yesterday's activities. She reached out and conscientiously began to knead Hanni's back.
"What time is it?" Hanni mumbled.
"Just after eight," Minji replied.
"It's past eight?" Hanni stopped Minji's hands. "Then why are you still here? You need to get ready for work."
"It's fine, I have time." Minji moved Hanni's hand away and continued the massage.
"It's over a half-hour drive to the office, and you still need to get dressed and eat breakfast. Get up quickly," Hanni insisted.
"I'll give you another ten minutes of massage," Minji countered.
Hanni couldn't convince her wife to leave, so in the end, she allowed Minji to continue rubbing her back.
"So, you'd rather remedy your faults instead of taking preventive measures," Hanni muttered. "Can't you restrain yourself?"
Minji's hand paused, then began kneading Hanni's back more diligently. "I can extend the massage for another ten minutes," she said.
"Don't," Hanni refused.
"If you can't control yourself, you'll have to find remedies after the fact," Minji murmured.
"You!"
Minji probably didn't intend for her wife to hear her, but Hanni was close enough to catch it clearly.
"Bark!" Hearing his mother's voice, Choco perked up and ran to the stairs, eager to go to the second floor. But before he could, Mrs. Jung caught him with a sharp eye.
"Choco, stay. You can't go up right now." Mrs. Jung glanced at the nearby clock.
Just five minutes later, the couple came down, one looking angry and the other wearing an apologetic smile. Oddly enough, breakfast remained harmonious despite their contrasting expressions.
Hanni was still fuming and didn't want to send her wife off. But recalling the sad words Minji had said the day before, she couldn't help but stand. In the end, she walked Minji to the door.
"Be careful on the road. Drive slowly," Hanni instructed.
"En," Minji's forlorn expression instantly brightened with joy.
"Oh, and..." Just as Minji was about to get in her car, Hanni remembered something and hastily called out.
"What?" Minji straightened and turned to her wife.
"When you're free, let's take another set of wedding photos," Hanni said. "I don't like the ones we have now."
Hanni had this idea after leaving the attic yesterday afternoon. She didn't want to display those awkward photos around the house. Since she had already been transported back to the past, she figured they might as well retake their wedding photos too.
