Kim Company building. At 10:00 a.m., the workaholic Minji heard a knock on the door.
"Come in," Minji responded casually.
Hyein pushed the door open and entered the room. She approached Minji's desk and quietly waited for her boss to finish signing a document.
"Boss, I found the person you asked me to check on last night." Hyein handed over the investigation report. "One of these two individuals is Lee Wonhee, the youngest daughter of Seoul's Vice Mayor. The other is Noh Yunah, the daughter of the owner of Wood Stone Properties."
"Wood Stone Properties?" Minji frowned. "What is Wood Stone?"
"Wood Stone Properties is a company that was established just two years ago. Initially, it was only a construction team. Noh Yunah wasn't really qualified to attend the Star River Charity Banquet, but she's good at flattering people and happened to be a college classmate of Lee Wonhee. She must have heard that Lee Wonhee was attending and asked her friend to take her along," Hyein explained.
Minji tapped her desk with her fingers, her eyes focused on the report in front of her. She examined the pictures of the two girls back and forth before asking, "How is Wood Stone Properties doing?"
"The company is still in its infancy, so their operations and management are not quite up to par," Hyein said. "The boss of Wood Stone Properties was a contractor before. He capitalized on the recent real estate boom and suddenly gained wealth. Although he made a lot of money, he often deducted wages from his migrant workers, so his reputation is not very good."
Minji frowned, a trace of disgust flashing in her eyes. "What is their current project?"
"They acquired a piece of land by securing a bank loan a year ago. They plan to develop it into commercial housing."
"Let's discuss this with the relevant departments. Make sure they closely monitor the Wood Stone Properties project," Minji instructed.
"Understood." Hyein nodded, smiling. "I'll ensure they thoroughly check if Wood Stone Properties is fully complying with regulations. If they plan to deforest even one square meter of greenery, we need to make sure they compensate by preserving 1.1 meters."
If this commercial housing project adheres to state standards, several housing units would be lost, as a certain percentage of greenery must be preserved on the land. A loss of a single unit could cost millions, given the current housing prices in Seoul, let alone several units.
The building materials would also need careful inspection to ensure no corners were being cut. Due to this strict review process, the construction timeline would inevitably be extended. That meant daily costs would accumulate. Moreover, Wood Stone Properties was a small, newly established company; they would certainly struggle with their bank loan interest. If construction took longer and the houses failed to sell well, the company could face a financial collapse within minutes.
Noh Yunah, this little girl, probably never imagined that after one casual remark about Hanni, she would end up causing her entire family to suffer such a great loss.
"The Vice Mayor's daughter..." Minji pondered for a moment, then asked, "Is the Vice Mayor aiming for a change of term next year?"
"Yes. Vice Mayor Lee is a popular candidate for the next mayor," Hyein replied.
"Does Lee Wonhee like wearing fur?" Minji recalled seeing Wonhee wearing fur at the banquet last night.
"Yes, but it's all said to be artificial fur," Hyein replied.
"Find some evidence and send it to the Animal Protection Association." After saying this, Minji closed the investigation report and set it aside.
The Animal Protection Association was a group of passionate young activists. If they found out that the daughter of a prospective mayor was wearing real fur, it would cause a scandal.
