In the guest room on the second floor, Hanni stood in the middle of the room, surrounded by presents. She was surprised at the number of gifts around her and said, "We received so many gifts."
Minji leaned against the door frame and looked at all the gift boxes in the room. She was surprised when she saw Hanni's smiling face and tentatively asked, "Do you like them?"
"Of course, I like them. Anyone would be happy to receive a gift," Hanni said with a chuckle.
Upon hearing this, the tension in Minji's face gradually softened. The wedding gifts had been sitting in the room for almost a week, each one a testament to the love surrounding their marriage. Since she had only a few friends, most of the presents came from Hanni's family and friends.
Ever since the wedding, Hanni hadn't mentioned the gifts at all. Minji thought this meant her wife was still upset about the marriage and didn't like the gifts. But now that Hanni suddenly said liking them, she started to wonder if Hanni wasn't as unhappy about the marriage as she had thought.
"There aren't a lot of presents with cards. I guess we'll only find out who the sender is after opening them," Hanni said as she picked up a few boxes and looked them over.
"En," This time, Minji walked over and picked up a gift too.
"It looks like this is going to take a while." Hanni looked around and saw that even the desk and chairs were full of presents, and there was no place to sit. In the end, she sat on the carpet and leaned on the foot of the bed.
Hanni ripped the packaging, revealing a black jewelry box inside. She opened the box and took out the card inside. "It's a pair of diamond earrings from auntie Lisa. They're gorgeous." She turned the box, intending to show the newly received diamond earrings to Minji as she spoke. When she lifted her head, she found Minji squatting in front of her, holding a pillow and leaning closer.
"They're beautiful." Minji said. She noticed her wife's body slightly retreating due to her close proximity.
Minji handed the pillow to Hanni, "The ground is cold."
"Huh?" Hanni replied, surprised and taking a moment to react. She then put down the diamond earrings she was holding and accepted the pillow from Minji.
Hanni placed the pillow beneath her and found it much more comfortable than sitting on the carpet. She looked at Minji, who was examining a gift, and happily said, "Thank you."
"This is a jade bracelet from Kim Jisoo of Blissoo Technology." Minji didn't say anything else and just handed the gift she had opened to Hanni.
"Oh, that can be put up in a charity sale someday." Hanni took the gift box.
"En," Minji nodded, she then picked up another gift to open.
Hanni secretly glanced at Minji and saw that she seemingly didn't react to what she had just said. Feeling somewhat disappointed, she bowed her head and concentrated on opening another gift.
Minji didn't care about the actual gifts but instead wanted to look at the cards. Honestly, the words written in the cards were pretty much the same. Every time she opened a gift, there would be a card that would say, [I wish Minji and Hanni a wonderful wedding, may you live a long and happy life, may you have a child soon.] And her mood would lift, as if the more these words were said, the more they could come true.
"This one's a notebook? And there's a password lock." Hanni looked at the item doubtfully.
"What's the matter?" Minji raised her head.
"Kang Haerin sent us a notebook with a combination lock on it." Hanni lifted the notebook.
"Let me see." Minji accepted the notebook, recalling what Kang Haerin had said during the wedding.
