It was the weekend, and they had plans to visit Minji's mother in Busan.
Busan was just the next city over. Although it wasn't too far, it was still a three-hour drive from Seoul to Busan. Hanni and Minji hadn't planned on spending the night in Busan, so they had to get up bright and early.
"Mrs. Jung, where are the things I asked you to prepare yesterday?" Hanni asked as she packed.
"They're in the kitchen. Let me bring them over." It was quite early in the morning, so Mrs. Jung was still not quite ready.
Hanni accepted the black antique food container from Mrs. Jung and carefully carried it out of the house. While doing this, she said, "Mrs. Jung, we might not necessarily come back home today, so please just feed Choco before leaving. You don't need to cook dinner."
"Alright." Mrs. Jung nodded as she saw Hanni to the door.
Minji, who had been waiting near the front door for quite a while, saw Hanni and asked, "Everything alright?"
"Yes, we can go now," Hanni replied.
"What's this?" Minji took the food box from Hanni and tilted her head.
"An offering," Hanni replied.
Minji was stunned. She hadn't expected her wife to take this so seriously. Her heart was deeply moved, but of course, none of this showed on her face. She turned around and opened the passenger door of the car for Hanni.
The drive was a bit dull since Minji didn't say much. Since they had woken up early, Hanni found herself yawning.
"Why don't you go back to sleep?" Minji, who always paid close attention to her wife, asked.
"No, I'm fine. Maybe some wind will help." Hanni rolled down the window a little. Suddenly, a cold gust blew into the car, causing her to shiver and sneeze twice.
Minji immediately pressed the button to close the window. Unfortunately, the car window was slow to close.
"Well, I'm completely awake now." Hanni couldn't help laughing.
Hanni's long hair had gotten a bit messy from the sudden gust of wind. The two sneezes had made her nose turn red, and tears were welling in her eyes. She looked awkward yet adorable, which made Minji smile.
"Don't open the window, it's easy to catch a cold." Minji couldn't help but advise.
"I'll listen to you."
Those words were said by her wife so casually, but when Minji heard them, her heart beat faster. She could almost believe that the distance between them had shortened.
"When was the last time you went to Busan?" Hanni asked, smoothing down her hair.
"Three years ago. On the day I took over the Kim Company," Minji replied.
"Oh..." Hanni froze.
The atmosphere grew awkward. It was clear that Minji had come to see her mother for a specific reason that day.
Minji also noticed the shift in the atmosphere. She felt a bit annoyed that her cold demeanor had caused such a change, but she didn't want to lie to Hanni.
Pretending nothing had happened, Minji casually asked, "Have you ever been to Busan?"
"Yes, I once visited with some classmates in high school," Hanni replied. "There's a beautiful lake in Busan. I went there to play."
Minji tightened her grip on the steering wheel and nervously asked, "Well... after we visit the cemetery, we can go take a walk along the lake."
"Great." Hanni found the tension in Minji's voice somewhat amusing.
