My eyes narrowed, a thoughtful look crossing her face. "Where'd you get that intel, unnie?" I asked, my voice low so that only Unnie could hear me.
She returned my gaze, a small smirk on her lips. "I have my sources, maknae," she replied, her tone casual.
I rolled my eyes, but I couldn't help but be curious. "You and your secret sources," I muttered. "How do you always manage to find this stuff out when no one else does?"
Jisoo unnie chuckled at my question, her expression smug. "I'm not the main advisor of the group for no reason, you know."
I huffed in mock irritation. "Yeah, yeah, I know. You're the brains behind the group, blah blah blah."
The Kim Jisoo just merely smirked, unbothered by my sarcasm. "That's right, I am. And I take pride in being the one who always has the inside scoop."
I playfully bumped her shoulder. "You and your secrets. Always keeping us on our toes."
I leaned in a bit closer to her. "What do you think about the engagement?"
She sighed, her eyes flicking towards the couple on stage. "Honestly, I don't know why Jackson's going through with it. It's not like they have some great love story or anything. It's all just business, as far as I can tell."
I hummed in agreement. "Yeah, it seems like it's more of a strategic move than anything else. I doubt Jackson's fiancé is actually in love with him. She's probably just in it for the wealth and power."
She raised her eyebrows, a contemplative expression on her face. "That's what I'm thinking. And with her past as a gang leader... it adds an extra layer of intrigue, doesn't it?"
I blinked, processing her words. "Wait...are you saying she's marrying Jackson to get her old position as a gang leader back?"
Unnie shrugged. "It's a possibility. Think about it. Jackson's in a high-ranking position in the Mafia world, and his fiancé has a sketchy past as a gang leader. It wouldn't be too far fetched to assume she's using him to get back to a position of power."
I felt a shiver run down my spine at the thought. "Damn, that's Machiavellian."
Unnie nodded, a smirk tugging at the corners of her lips. "That's the world we live in, maknae. Love and loyalty mean nothing to some people. It's all about power and control."
I shook my head, a mix of disbelief and disgust on my face. "That's messed up. Poor Jackson. He's probably got no idea what he's gotten himself into."
She chuckled darkly. "Or maybe he does know, and he's just desperate enough for power to overlook her ulterior motives. You never know with these people."
I grimaced, feeling a little sympathy for Jack. "That's a sad existence, if you ask me. Trading love for power. That's gonna bite him in the ass someday."
Unnie nodded, leaning back on her seat, her eyes fixed on the couple,"It always does, eventually. Power is a slippery slope, maknae. Once you start climbing that ladder, it's hard to stop. And sometimes, the view from the top isn't as pretty as you thought it would be."
I couldn't help but shiver again, the image she just painted in my mind giving me goosebumps. "I hope that doesn't happen to us, unnie," I said, my voice low.
Unnie softened her expression, placing a reassuring hand on my shoulder. "It won't, maknae. We're not like them. We have each other, and that's worth more than any amount of power or wealth."
I smiled weakly, grateful for her reassurance. "Yeah, you're right. We're in this together, no matter what."
Just then, a commotion suddenly erupted nearby, catching our attention.
