As Kai smirked, preparing to pull the trigger, the door to Jennie's room suddenly flew open with a crash. Taehyung stood in the doorway, his chest heaving, his eyes darker than any had seen. "Get. Away. From. Her."

Kai's head whipped around, surprise flitting across his face. Without a moment's hesitation, Taehyung launched himself at Kai, tackling him to the ground.

The gun skittered across the floor as they grappled, punching and kicking each other with savage ferocity.

Jennie, still on the ground, watched through tear-filled eyes as Taehyung fought like a man possessed. He landed a hard punch on Kai's jaw, snapping his head to the side.

"No one touched what's mine in ages," Taehyung breathed heavily slamming his injured fist into Kai's face again making him cough blood.

Kai's nose crunched under Taehyung's knuckles, blood gushing down his face. He snarled in pain and rage, lunging for the gun on the floor.

Taehyung tackled him again before he could reach it, the two men grappling and trading brutal blows.

It was a battle for dominance, for love, for life itself.

Taehyung's fist connected with Kai's face once more, and this time, his rival stilled beneath him.

Taehyung panted, chest heaving as he looked down at Kai's unmoving form, blood dripping from his own split lip and bruised knuckles.

Taehyung stood up slowly, his eyes never leaving Kai's unconscious body. He reached for the gun, picking it up with a shaking hand.

Kneeling down, he pressed the barrel against Kai's temple, his voice dangerous, almost dangerous. "You wanted to kill her, didn't you?"

His hand tightened on the gun, knuckles turning white. Jennie, still on the floor, watched him with wide, tear-filled eyes. She could see the turmoil in his face, the struggle between love and vengeance. "Taehyung," she whispered, her voice hoarse.

Taehyung bent down to Jennie's level, his voice soft as he asked, "Yes, love?"  Her eyes met his, filled with unshed tears and a fiery something that took his breath away. "I want to kill him."

Now, Jennie's bloody fingers wrapped around the gun, prying it from Taehyung's hand. She struggled to her feet, swaying slightly as she pointed the gun at Kai's unmoving form.

With that, she slowly pressed the trigger. A deafening bang rang out in the room. Kai's body jerked once, his eyes fluttering closed. A red stain spread across his chest.

The sound of footsteps echoed in the room as the woman who had been with Kai earlier burst in, her face pale. She took in the scene - Kai's lifeless body, Jennie standing over him with the gun, Taehyung's stricken face - and let out a piercing scream.

Without another word, she turned and fled, her heels clicking rapidly on the hard floor.

The room fell silent except for the sound of Jennie's heavy breathing and the distant wail of a police siren. Taehyung stepped forward, gently taking the gun from Jennie's numb fingers.

Taehyung wrapped his arms around Jennie, holding her trembling form, close. She buried her face in his chest, her body suddenly going limp as she fainted dead away.

He caught her, cradling her in his arms as he sat down on the floor, rocking her gently.

The wail of sirens grew louder, red and blue lights flashing through the windows. Taehyung held Jennie close, his own tears falling onto her hair as he whispered, "Have to get out before these stupid fucking people barge in."

He looked down at her peaceful face, then at Kai's lifeless body. With a sigh, he stood, carrying Jennie to the window. He had to get them both out of here, had to keep her safe. He'd figure out the rest later.

...

Gently placing her in the passenger seat of his car and buckling her in, he leaned in, his eyes roaming over her face - the bloody gash on her forehead, the tear tracks, the pale lips slightly parted. He couldn't lose her. Not after everything they'd been through.

He reached out, brushing a strand of hair out of her face, his fingers trembling slightly. He leaned in closer, his lips brushing against her forehead in a soft, gentle kiss. "Please, baby, wake up," he whispered.

He hurried to the driver's seat, buckling in as he started the engine. The distant wail of sirens spurred him into action. He threw the car into gear and sped off, his eyes flicking to the rearview mirror to check on Jennie.

After what felt like an eternity, he pulled into a secluded spot under a highway overpass. He killed the engine and turned to Jennie, gently shaking her shoulder. "Princess, wake up, please. I need you to open your eyes for me."

Her lashes fluttered, and she let out a low moan, her head lolling to the side. Taehyung's heart leaped in his chest. "Love?"  He cupped her face, his thumbs brushing away fresh tears.

Reaching into the glove compartment, Taehyung pulled out a bottled water. He twisted the cap off and held it to her lips, helping her sit up slightly. "Slowly." He poured a little into her mouth, letting her swallow before giving her more.

She drank greedily, her hands clutching at his arm. As she finished, she slumped back against the seat, her eyes filled with unshed tears.

"K-Kai..." she stammered, her voice breaking. "Is he...?"

Taehyung's face darkened. He gently placed the water bottle aside and pulled her into his lap, wrapping his arms around her. "Shh, it's okay. You don't have to think about that right now," he murmured gently.

Taehyung tilted Jennie's chin up, his eyes locked onto hers. Without a word, he leaned in and pressed his lips to hers in a soft, tender kiss. She kissed him back. Weakly, her arms winding around his neck.

Jennie buried her face in his chest, her shoulders shaking with quiet sobs. Taehyung held her close, his own eyes stinging with unshed tears. "It's okay," he whispered, over and over. "It's going to be okay. I promise." And he meant it.

They stayed like that for a long time, wrapped in each other's arms under the dim lights of the overpass. The wail of police sirens faded into the distance, replaced by the soft sound of their breathing and the occasional hitch of a sob.
