Jennie's P. O. V.

The sun had dipped below the horizon, painting the sky with hues of deep blue and purple. I found myself seated on the cold sand, the waves crashing against the shore mere feet away from me. The salty sea breeze whipped around me, playing with my hair.

I have started feeling that my life is a game of chess, and I? I am a useless small pawn. A side character of my own story.

Stupid tears welled up in my eyes, blurring the beautiful sunset. I'm not meant for happiness, am I? Not like them. Not like the ones I love so dearly.

I buried my face in my knees, my arms wrapped tightly around myself as I sat there, lost in my thoughts.

"Sometimes I find
It's better to escape
If only I could teach you
Why is it so hard?
Why is it so hard?"

Do I lo-... No? Do I like V? Do I? Can I? Can I even love someone?

I couldn't possibly like him, could I? He's just so... him. Tall, handsome, charming. The very definition of a perfect guy. And me? I'm just... me.

I bit my lower lip, toying with the hem of my dress as I debated with myself. Could I, Jennie, the girl who'd sworn off love after her last heartbreak, actually be falling for V?

I shook my head vigorously, as if the physical action could dispel the thoughts swirling in my mind. No, no, no. I can't. I won't. I'm not ready. I'm scared. What if he breaks my heart? What if I'm not enough for him? What if...

I looked up at the full moon hanging in the night sky, its silvery glow casting a shimmering path on the dark sea. "You," I whispered, "what do you think? Should.... I give in to these feelings? Should I risk my heart ......again?"

I looked up at the moon again, my voice barely above a whisper. "Moon, it's been a day since I last saw him. Do I miss him? Am I missing him this much already?"

Suddenly, my phone rang, the sound piercing the quiet of the beach. I fumbled in my bag to retrieve it, my heart pounding in my chest.

"Hello?" I answered breathlessly. "Missing me?" a familiar voice drawled, sending shivers down my spine. It was him.

"No," I replied hoarsely, trying to ignore the flutter in my chest at the sound of his voice. "And...how did you get my number?"

He hummed.

"I have my ways. Plus, it's not hard to get a hold of someone's number when you know the right people."

I hesitated for a moment, then asked, "Why did you call me?" there was a pause on the other end of the line, and I could almost hear his smile.

"Because I wanted to hear your voice," he laughed. "And I was right, it's just as beautiful as I remember."

I felt my cheeks warm at his words, and I quickly asked, "Where are you anyways?"

"In your heart, babygirl. Always there." His words sent a flutter through me, I felt tears prick at the corners of my eyes.

I rolled my eyes grinning at myself, and wiping the test away, "Answer, lovesick."

"Hmn.? Can't you feel my presence?"

I felt my heart jump to my throat, widening my eyes and slowly turning around. And there he was, standing on the shore with his phone in one hand and the other hand casually slipped into his pocket.

He looked at me with those piercing eyes, a soft smile playing on his lips as he watched me realize he was standing right behind me. The moonlight cast a silver glow on his face, making him look even more handsome than usual.

"Surprised to see me?" he asked, tilting his head to the side. I nodded, still speechless from the realization that he was actually here, standing right in front of me. He chuckled, lowering his phone.

"Thought I'd surprise you," he said, stepping closer. "And it seems like it worked." He reached out, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. His touch sent shivers down my spine, and I finally found my voice. "How..."

"Shh, princess," he said, quieting me as he wrapped his arms around my waist. I looked up at him with wide eyes, and he leaned down, pressing a soft kiss to my lips. "Don't ask questions," he whispered as we pulled back from the kiss.

Am I that easy to kiss?
