Could never hide anything
Their deep set expression
Taught me so many lessons
Insisted that outside I better stay ready to get aggressive
Stoic quiet gestures
Wings untethered
Trust all my feathers
Every single one
Lifting skin shivers
Soars so high
Glowing wild blesses
Life's treasures
Wish I could send him a text message
Imagining how my Mom loved Emojis
She used them as expressions
If my Daddy could do that
I wouldn't have to miss him
I'm the particles kicked up off the pavement
By every step for them that I am still taking
Growing much more resilient
Still trying to learn how to listen
Hidden hearing loss
Disrupting the signals
Processing disorder
Causing random glitches
When they think one side of a coin is unlucky
They just flip it
I don't
Cuz I know that's just their perspective
They are tethered
I fly
Not either
But
I-ther
I made up that word I think
Coins spend the same no matter which side they're on
My Daddy taught me that
When his eyes looked at me
I knew I was where I belonged
He made me grow up very very strong
No matter the weather
I choose peace before I go outside
His eyes I still see through
Vision tethered
