The fight was overwhelming for all. Ar'eth was too strong for them, but they couldn't run away it would catch up. Koa couldn't run, Xavier couldn't run, Kal couldn't run, the reason they couldn't run ar'eth was controlling kin and ax. None of them could leave the two. Everyone was so injured but Ar'eth looked like it barely had a scratch. All of them are on their last legs koa and Xavier further away from the fight than kal is kin and ax in melee with him.
Kal is half kneeling on the ground, the attacks from kin and ax have been going to him and only him, Ax looks like they are about to cry, koa can't tell how kin is feeling at the moment. Koa and kal had been getting closer and closer everyday. Ar'eth hated it so much that this would happen harming his favourite through other people. People close to koa too. They've all had to be careful on attacks trying only to get Ar'eth.
It happened all at once Ar'eth sent a spell in Xavier's direction badly hurting him, then Ax and Kin both stab kal with their daggers on either sides of his chest, getting his heart and lungs as they both pull their daggers out together kal slumps unmoving. As soon as koa sees this he screams out, the ground shakes around Ar'eth, Kin and Ax as the earth tremor gets cast, Ar'eth vanishes just as the tremor ends and as koa runs over to kal who is crumbled in himself. Koa tries to give kal a healing potion it doesn't work so he starts trying other ways to bring him back, koa has no spells, he's crying and yelling at kal's lifeless body. He doesn't care about anything else except trying to bring kal back, everything is a murmur to him.
Koa couldn't let him go, he holds kal's body protecting it. Ax crouched down across from koa, they are crying, he reaches out to kal, koa grabs kal tighter and growls out "don't touch him," to which ax backs off, kin is next to ax trying to comfort him whilst trying to process it all.

It takes a long while until the party move, they bury kal, koa wraps his scarf around kal and takes kal's scarf. Koa wraps kal's scarf around his neck. Trying to keep something of kal close to him. They all don't have a lot of time to grieve because shit went down and koa has a certain person he needs to see dead. The party agrees to continue the mission they have, even if none of them can look each other in the eye.
Sitting down to camp for the night is glum, everyone is sad or guilty. Kin and Ax are trying to help each other and frankly it makes koa feel sick so he tries to pay no mind to it instead opting for tuning his violin. His brain has other ideas though, the thoughts of him and kal together, being friends, becoming more, trying to show each other how much they love one another, the teasing everything. The tears started falling again. He gets a look of concern from kin, he glares back not wanting pity or faer's concern. None of the party talked for a good few days, how could they? They were all dealing with that shit.
They had a job to do, people to finish off. Loved ones to miss forever. They would finish this for kal. Koa would finish this for kal
