Kal works too hard and Koa knows it, so when Kal injured himself, on the ship, yesterday. Koa made him rest, so he was down a crew member, Koa didn't want to overwork his other crew members so Koa did Kal's work. It was an offload day, they had docked, crates were being taken off. It's a very warm day. Koa had a lot of things to do and be done, checking on Kal was an add on Koa put himself to. He hated the idea of the crew being in his and Kal's room. At one point Kal did hop out of the room and tried to work as soon as Koa saw him, he picked him up and took Kal back to bed, "you gotta rest sweet, you won't get better"
"Ah can't darlin', ah feel useless"
"You are being very helpful" Kal looks to Koa in confusion, "you are keep the bed warm, very helpful." Kal laughs slightly. Koa gives him a quick kiss and walks out to finish what he has to do, ignoring the sight pain in his chest for now. Later problem.

Everything has been offloaded and new things have been loaded on. The ship has set sail again, Koa can do normal things such as eat, get Kal to eat and deal with the pain. Once the two of them have eaten Koa puts the plates aside and lies down. "How's the leg?" Koa asks quietly.
"It's fine," Kal responds. When Koa moves slightly Kal understands something is wrong. "Did'ya put someone in charge darlin'"
"Mhm" Koa hums out trying not to think about anything, Kal lies down with him, he just starts talking about random things, he understands that Koa doesn't want to do more than just lie there with him, even if it means listening to Kal ramble.
Someone knocks on their bedroom door, neither of them move to answer. "Uh...Captain? Kirsten fell and injured their shoulder, sorry for bothering you. It's just uhhhh we are down some crew, Do you have any direction?" Asta's voice muffled through the door. Koa buries his head on Kal's hair, Kal tries to get up but Koa refuses to let Kal's go, Kal whispers to Koa "darlin' they need help."
"Not from you," he's quieter than Kal. Asta speaks again "I guess I'll give out Kal and Kirsten's duties out to the rest of the crew equally? Again sorry for bothering you" and the footsteps are heard walking away. "Darlin', what's wrong" Kal asks, Koa doesn't answer instead he just keeps cuddling Kal, "Koa...talk to me."
"I hurt"

They don't stay out at sea for very long as it ends up that a sickness overruns the whole ship and those who aren't sick are severely injured or exhausted. The letter bird arrives just when they've docked, Kal reads the letter to Koa as Koa did catch the sickness. Koa would've wrote the letter if he was able but he wasn't so Kal wrote the letter in his stead while Koa takes a small sick nap. Kal stays with Koa as neither wanted the to leave. Even if it means can might end up sick.

The next day the storm hits. It makes life worse for everyone Koa was feeling better and Kal's leg was a lot better the two of them being the only ones that can work they were in charge of tying everything down and getting some supplies of to help the crew get better. In feeling better doing all that took a lot out of Koa and he did sleep from like the middle of the day until the next day. He doesn't know if Kal stuck by him all day or not.

The next time he woke he was not on the ship and instead he was in a house with Kin next to him, Kal pacing and Ax at the door all look concerned or worried. Koa immediately feels bad and the first thing he can think of to say is "sorry" it's quiet but loud enough for everyone to hear. When Kal heard him he goes over and takes Koa's hand and gently kisses his forehead "it's okay darlin', you just had us worried for a bit." Koa smiles slightly "I'm okay now." Kin goes over to Ax after making sure Koa is okay, "we are going to leave you for a bit and I'll be back later," Kin says as they leave Kal and Koa alone for a bit.
Koa makes Kal lie down so they can cuddle. "Sorry I made you worry"
"It's fine, the first thing ah though of was coming to here, hope that's okay with ya"
"Perfectly fine," Koa smiles and kisses Kal's gently, it never gets old, Gods he loves Kal so much, "I love you sweet."
"Love you too, darlin'"
