" Well, mommy is about to work but Cal-"

" Oh, I'm sorry. Go to work na. " Calliope wiggled her way down to Zilas arms back to the ground, she ran to me at nagtago sa binti ko.

" I didn't know you were working, I'm sorry. " Paghingi niya ng tawad habang nakatago parin sa akin. I was like a wall between them.

" Sweet pie, I thought you wa- " His sentence was cut off by his cellphone ringing. He fetched it out of his pocket and answered the phone.

" Papa... " Mahinang bulong ni Calliope to catch my attention, napatingin ako sa and I saw her holding both her hands up. With my strength, I carried her in my arms.

" This is Zilas Romaclov speaking.. Is it now?.... Are you sure?...... I'll be there in a few minutes.... Yes." With his phone still in his ears Zilas turned around and walked out the door, the guard had the initiative to grab their shoes and followed his boss. He didn't even bid his goodbye. I think it's an urgent matter, I mean if it isn't urgent then Zilas wouldn't have to walk down the building with his socks.

" Did I disturb him, papa? Was I a bad girl? Will he hate me? " Sunod-sunod niyang tanong, she was genuinely worried.

" Of course not, no one will hate you as long as I'm here Calliope. " I assured her.

" I'm sorry papa, I was a bad girl. Patawad po. " Paghingi niya ng tawad sa akin. My lips formed a smile, what an honest girl she is.

To prevent Calliope from feeling blue I told her we can have a walk outside, I saw this new cafe down the block and thought it might be a good idea to take her there. Marami rin kasing magulang ang dinadala ang anak nila don, the cafe had a library meant for kids and I think it will entertain my little girl. She can also make friends while at it.

I dress my Calliope in a flower patterned white whole dress with a ribbon on the back paired with black doll shoes. Minention ko sa kaniya ang part na may books ang library and she was thrilled about it.

Nong malapit na kami sa cafe, may nadaanan kami ng anak ko na isang vacant renting place. I have been here before and if I'm not mistaken that used to be a fast-food chain, they serve a typical fast food menu like hotdogs and Burgers which I think led to their downfall since Jollibee is literally in front of their store just across the street. What a pity.

Pumasok kami sa cafe and the warm air immediately greeted us, there were parents watching their kids at the reading section while they sip tea. I need to order first before I can get a table and a seat, so pumunta kami ni Calliope sa counter to order some food and drinks. After the lady jotted down all of our orders, they gave us a seat and took an additional 100 so Calliope could join the other kids on the reading section.

Pumunta agad si Calliope sa library kaya ako lang mag isa ang humanap sa table namin at umupo, hindi masyadong malawak ang lugar at nasa center ang library kaya kitang kita mo ang siya. I saw how Calliope grabbed a thick book, it was the thickest among all the books on the shelves and probably the heaviest kasi agad siyang napa upo when she got it.

" Look at that little girl, she's holding an encyclopedia. How old is she? She looks so young to be reading that. " Bulong ng babae sa kabilang table, she was talking to her friend which I happened to be eavesdropping on. Naiinggit lang sila.

" Encyclopedia? For real? Take a pic, ang cute ni baby nagbabasa ng encyclopedia." Sagot nong babaeng kasama niya. I heard a shutter on their phones, they really took a picture of her reading. My daughter was flipping the pages like she was looking for an interesting topic to read, her eyes sparkle when she got to a certain part.

I heard the scraping noise of the metal chair being pulled out under the table kaya napalingon ako sa may gilid, I saw Rhett holding the chair from our table and sat on it.

" Long time no see Clio, " pagbati niya with a smile on his face.

" Rhett, kumusta na? " Tanong ko habang nakangiti, it may not look like it but Rhett is actually a nice co-worker. He was kind to me and would often help me back then at the bar.

" My life has been wonderful, I quit the job a few days ago. " For some reason he sounds like a burden has been taken from him, I never saw him this smiley before. Seems like he finally found a perfect job.

" Why are you here by the way? You don't have a child, " tanong ko. This cafe is for individuals na may anak o may kasamang bata, they don't accept booking with people who don't have any children with them in fear of kidnapping.

" Andito ako dahil sa batang 'yan, " he pointed at something with his index and my eyes followed it. I saw a tiny little boy around Calliope's age sitting down beside my daughter as they both read something in the thick book

" Pamangkin mo? " Tanong ko, pero mukhang hindi eh. The little guy has beautiful brown hair and fair skin, he had a great shape for a nose and rosy cheeks. Parang may lahi ang maliit na 'to, wala namang nabanggit si Rhett na may kapatid siyang naka-asawa ng foreigner.

" No, alaga ko lang 'ya-"

" Mama! " sigaw ng alaga ni Rhett habang tumatakbo papalapit sa amin, I look behind me para tingnan kung sino ang tinatawag niyang mama, wala namang tao sa likuran namin.

The kid kissed Rhett's cheeks sabay sabi sa akin ng " my dada will not be happy if you talk to mama. " This little one just threatened me for talking to Rhett..... His mama- Rhett?!

Namilog ang mga mata ko sa nalaman, agad kung tiningnan si Rhett na nakatingin sa ibang direksyon na tila hindi niya kayang tiningnan ako sa mata. We have a lot to discuss, it seems like I missed a lot. A whole lot.

" Play kana ron, have some friends. " Rhett tried to gently urge him to go back to the reading section but the kid refused to, he was still maintaining eye contact with me with his piercing glare.

" I'm just your mama's friend, I have no plan on stealing him from you. Don't worry." I assured him, sa tingin ko kasi 'yan lang need niya marinig para e let down ang guard niya sa akin.

" Of course not, dada will be mad at you. My dada is scary. " He was still glaring at me, hindi nagpapatalo.

" Ravion, don't be disrespectful. Friend ko lang siya, say sorry Ravion. " Saway ni Rhett sa bata. Cute name, Ravion. Hindi nagpatinag ang bata bagkus he slipped his tongue out at me bago tumakbo pabalik sa reading area, he didn't even say sorry.

" Ravion's mom died when he was very young. He was a quiet kid pero nong nakita niya ako he thought I was his mom because his mom and I share same facial features, pero hindi 'yun totoo, I saw the picture of his mom and god she's beautiful." I didn't ask for an explanation from him but here we are.

" And his dad? " I asked, na curious na rin kasi ako.

" He was the client who paid me 100 thousand for a night. "
