Third Person

Zilas was in his office watching the ring in his finger, he was staring at it na parang hindi siya makapaniwala na binigay ito ni Clio sa kaniya. His heart always races in joy whenever he sees it, palagi siyang napapangiti tuwing naalala niya ang hapong 'yun. While in the middle of mesmerizing his new ring, a knock suddenly took him back to reality.

" Come in!" He shouted loud enough for the person behind that door to hear him, the door opened revealing a familiar male figure. It was Alther.

" Did I disturb something, Zi? " Alther asked, Zilas slowly shook his head and gestured for him to sit. So, he did.

" What brought you here? " Zilas asked, he was confused on why Alther visited his office when he didn't call for a meeting.

" Is it wrong to visit you? " Tanong ni Alther habang pinag mamasdan ang mukha ni Zilas, after all these years, Alther was still mesmerized by Zilas beauty.

" Of course not, I was just confused on why you pay a visit when I didn't call for a meeting. " Zilas answered with a smile on his face, it was that smile that Alther missed the most. It was that smile that made his heart flutter 8 years ago, it was that smile that made him fall, and the same smile that broke him.

" I was worried about you, " Alther stated looking directly at Zilas' ocean blue eyes. Alther was worried that Clio must have taken advantage of Zilas' innocence, he was worried that Clio must've only used Zilas for money. He knew he can't do anything but the thought of Zilas being in pain hurts him. After all, he still loves this man in front of him.

" I'm sorry about yesterday, there was a big misunderstanding between my fiancee and I. " Zilas answered, the words fiancee made a strong impact on Alther. He was in pain, all this time he thought may babalikan pa siya. But it turns out that his greatest treasure has already been claimed by someone else.

" Is he treating you right? " Alther couldn't help but ask.

" Of course he is... Alther, what happened 8 years ago was a mistake. I'm sorry. " It was an apology but Alther's heart felt like it was being squeezed. Alther loves Zilas genuinely, but all this time the man he cherishes the most viewed their past relationship as a mistake. It hurts.

" Ah, right. Of course he is." He answered with a hint of sadness and pain in his voice.

" I loved you, Zilas. " He finally had the courage to tell him about what he really felt, this will be the last day that he'll have feelings for Zilas kaya minabuti niyang sabihin ito sa lalaki.

" Alther? " Nagtataka si Zilas sa narinig, hindi niya mawari kung ang sinabi ng lalaki ay isang biro o hindi.

" I love you, Zilas. I always did. During those seven days of our relationship I did nothing but love you, my feelings were genuine. " It was the same exact words Alther wanted to say to Zilas 8 years ago, Alther doesn't want to break up things with him. He loved him dearly. He tried fighting for them but it was futile because Zilas was the one who gave up, Alther could no longer fight for the relationship he cherished the most. On the other hand, Zilas was flabbergasted sa narinig niya. He always thought Alther was acting, he always thought Alther never felt anything for him.

" Alther, I'm sorry. But, I could no longer reciprocate that feeling. " Zilas apologized, deep inside of him he feels bad for Alther. It was his fault why this happened, it was his fault why Alther is hurt.

" I'm aware. I just want to let this out, I don't want to carry this burden forever. I'm happy for you Zilas, I really am. " Alther showed a faint smile, it was obviously a lie. He wasn't happy about them but he didn't have a choice.

" Thank you Alther, I hope you'll find a perfect person for you soon enough. " Zilas showed the warmest smile, the same smile Alther always wanted to see. Zilas has always been warm, he has always been this lovely.

" I'll prioritize myself for now, " Alther answered. Zilas smiled and just nodded in approval.

" I heard your father and step-mom are going to visit you, was it true?" Zilas asked, he heard his grandaddy was talking about Alther's family visiting their son and the Romaclov's.

" Yes, it's true. Dad and his woman will visit me and don't call that lady my mom. She's only a year older than me, it's disgusting for her to be my mom." Alther in grimace. It's indeed true, Alther's dad is dating a woman that's only a year older than his oldest son.

" Your dad sure has a weird taste," Zilas spoke.

Zilas has seen Alther's father, he was a man with beauty. Those who don't know Alther's family might think Alther and his dad are just brothers. He looks young for his age but that doesn't mean he could date a woman who's only a year older than his oldest son. It was messed up and they knew it.

" You know what's worse than her being young? " Alther asked na parang nakikipag chismis kay Zilas, parang hindi siya nag confess kanina lang. They immediately went from broken lovers to best friend mode in a snap of a finger.

" There was a humor circling around that she had a child and a boyfriend but she chose my dad over her own child because of the money." Kuwento ni Alther, sumundal siya sa sandalan ng sofa.

" Does your dad know about that? " Curios na tanong ni Zilas, hindi siya makapaniwala na may tao palang ganon. Mas pinipili ang pera kesa sa sariling dugo niya.

" He was the one who killed the rumor in order to protect his new girlfriend and his image. " Alther explained.

" I wonder if her child and boyfriend are doing well? What a crazy woman." There was sadness in Zilas' voice, Alther's story reminds him of Clio. How Clio's girlfriend also left them for someone else. Zilas couldn't remember the details properly because Clio doesn't talk about it much, he only mentioned being left by Calliope's mother when Zilas asked him where she was. There is still sadness and dismay in Clio's voice so Zilas didn't push to ask more questions regarding it. What matters is that Clio and Calliope are happy with him.

Their smiles are everything for Zilas.
