Clio
A multiple banging on my door woke my unconscious soul, my eyelids were still heavy but I forced them to open up so I could see my surroundings. My little girl is peacefully sleeping beside me with the mosquito net on her hand.
I groaned as my foot made their way to the front door, sino naman ang pupunta sa bahay alas 6 ng umaga?! My head hurts and my eyelids are still heavy! I want to go back to bed.
“ Clio?! ” I heard a familiar voice outside of my door. Too familiar. Am I hallucinating? I wash my face with my hands.
“ Are you there Clio? ” Tanong ulit nong nasa kabila. I couldn't be mistaken, that's Zilas! Why is he here? Paano niya nahanap bahay ko?
Should I leave him there and pretend I'm not home? No! That would be so rude of me. My house is not presentable! There are plenty of drawings on the wall, clothes on the sofa, scratches on the floor, and a filthy carpet.
“ Can I come in, please? Clio? Are you there? Hello?” He banged on the door again. Zilas has soft and fragile hands, baka masaktan niya ang sarili niya if he keeps on banging on the wooden door.
My hands turn the door open, I saw Zilas outside my doorstep who's about to knock again pero natigilan when he saw me.
“ Clio,” he called my name softly.
“ Uhm? Why are you here? ” Tanong ko sa kaniya, Zilas fidget his finger habang naka yoko. Did something happen? It's 6 am and he's in my front door, hindi naman siguro 'yun coincidence 'di ba? I'm sure there's an explanation for it.
“ My daddy is in my house but I don't want to see him so I escape through my window and head in here, alone. ” He then smiled at me like he was proud of what he just did. I scan Zilas from heat to toe, he was wearing his flipflops doesn't match, naka maong na shorts, at itim na long sleeves.
“ I'm unpresentable, I know.” His hair is messy, parang hindi nag suklay.
“ Come in,” I opened my door for him. Zilas faced brighten up and he immediately went inside with his flipflops. “ Slippers off, Zilas.” I ask him, napatingin siya sa akin at sa paa niya.
“ I'm sorry,” he removed his flipflops at nilagay 'yun katabi ng sapatos ko. I guided him to the sofa at pina upo, kinuha ko na rin ang jacket at t-shirt na nakahandusay lang sa sofa.
Nilagay ko sa kuwarto namin ang damit para itago 'yun, I made sure I didn't make any noise para hindi magising si Calliope. She was sleeping peacefully it would be a waste to wake her up this early in the morning.
“ Water? ” I asked nong makabalik sa kaniya, Zilas was looking around with his head. Para siyang bata sa isang toy store, he looks so amused with the things I have in my small apartment.
“ Clio, did your daughter draw this?” Tanong niya habang nakaturo ang daliri sa isang drawing, it was a big stickman and a small stickman holding their hands together while smiling.
“ Yeah, she did. Around 5 ata si Calliope when she drew that,” nakangiti kung sagot. Calliope was so proud when she showed me that drawing after I got home. Every drawing she did in these walls is a good memory for me that's why I refuse to wipe them off.
“ What about this? ” Tinuro niya ang drawing ni Calliope sa papel that was hanging in the wall near our window, it was a stickman holding a flower together with a female stickman and a small stickman. My daughter drew that when she saw a family in the park with a mom and she was confused why she doesn't have one like them.
“ Yeah, my daughter drew that when she was 6 years old. Kids have infinite creativity, nagmumukhang art museum ang apartment namin.” Pabiro kung sagot sa kaniya. Zilas smiled at the answer I gave him.
“ Every child is, you'll understand when you have a kid of your own.” Bulaslas ko bigla dahil sa narinig.
“ Yeah, ” Zilas answered still looking at the pictures my daughter drew. He seems fond of it. It looks silly but somehow it captures the moment.
“ Coffee?” I offered him something, he refused water baka he wants something else like coffee or milk.
“ I don't drink coffee,” he answered at me.
“ Milk?” I asked him again, may gatas pa naman dito na binili ko nong nag grocery kami ni Calliope. Zilas turned his head towards me and formed a playful smile.
“ If it's YOUR MILK, why not? I'd be happy to swallow.” He joked before forming a circle with his index and thumb and placing it in front of his mouth then he sticks his tongue out. An invitation for a blowjob.
I chuckled and shook my head. Hindi dito, we can't do something like that in here. Calliope is on the other room.
Zilas release a soft laugher and turned back to the drawing. “ I was kidding Clio,” he blurted out. Kahit naka talikod siya I know for a fact that his smiling like he just fulfilled something, I can feel it.
“ Papa? ” I heard Calliope's morning voice called out to me. The door on our room creaked open revealing Calliope walking in her pajama with the mosquito net in her hand, her eyes are half open and I can see some marks of pillow on her face.
“ Good morning 'nak,” lumapit ako sa kaniya at hinalikan siya sa noo.
“ Good morning young one, ” Zilas greeted Calliope. Napa mulat ng mata ang anak ko bigla at hinahanap ang lalaking nag salita, she shove me aside to reveal Zilas in her view.
“ Mr Blonde? ”
