Chapter 25: Tension in the East

Tokawa Border, Kasami Empire

9:00pm

The Tokawa Border stretches for 15km of flat plains and short but roaring rivers, it was once a peaceful area where local fauna used to frolic without much intervention. But through the years it was stripped off of its beauty and replaced it kilometers upon kilometers of razor wire, concrete towers, blinding spotlights and a thick concentration of anti personnel landmines

The border is so heavily protected that it made the DMZ Border of North and South Korea look like a playground by comparison. Now, nearly 100,000 Xian Quo and Kasami soldiers patrol this area looking for anything or anyone wanting to cross it and they were given a "shoot on sight" order from their higher ups

One Kasami soldier stood from his guard post and the other came up beside him, giving him a cigarette

"Thanks... awfully quiet, isn't it?" He exhaled as a puff of smoke came out. Then the other soldier quipped, "Too quiet if you ask me, guard dogs have been barking incessantly for 5 minutes now. Our spotlights tried to search for any movements but there were none, maybe they were hungry or something..."

As he said that, they could hear the dogs barking in the distance and their company commander also "barking" orders to shut the dogs up much to their amusement

"Hey, you heard about the nation that wanted to trade with us?", The other soldier furrowed his eyebrow. "You that uh...S..i..an? Or something like that?"

He nodded, "USEAN, yeah. I really don't know their motives but it's kinda suspicious when the tension between us and those red dress wearing farmers across our border started to rise. They come in..."

They then heard a rustling sound just in front of them, they immediately light up their flashlights and shines the brush in front of them. One shouldered their firearm while the other still shoned the flashlight, the rustling stops as a squirrel like came out of it and just ran

They sighed in relief as they holstered their weapons, "Freaking wildlife...we better be moving to quadrant 5B or-"

CRACK!

BOOM!

The soldier was hit on the right shoulder, not a second later all the border's spotlight lit up the area. There they saw a 3 man group across from the border running away from the scene, they immediately fired the group killing 1 and wounding the other 2

The fiasco didn't ended there as two more soldiers wearing a Xian Quo border uniform threw a grenade across the border but he was immediately shot in the head, the grenade then landed on the minefield and blew up nearly all of the mines in that area, creating a domino effect

Then air raid sirens all across the border started to go off as all of the soldiers of both sides start to gather up on the border and awaited their commander's orders to fully mobolize

See Linh Mi, Xian Quo Empire

See Linh Mi, the capital of the empire is sprawling with activity all over there walled city. It was reminiscent of the Forbidden City in China back on Earth but 5 times bigger with 60% less than the population of China

Despite looking medieval the empire boasts 1940 - 50s technologies like: cars, rail transportation, radio and television even somewhat modern medicine. There at the palace, Emperor Sun Jun is seen using his typewriter to pass the time, he wanted to be a story writer but due to his royal status he was always within the walls of his palace

But his pass time was interrupted when a ringing sound from his personal telephone goes off, he sighed and left his work and answered the call. "Yes, what can I help you?... Yes... Oh... Y-yes, yes. Immediately, summon them it is the utmost importance... Thank you..."
