Why did I even call her back?

What did I want to say to her?

"Yes, your highness?" I sensed a slight impatient tone and I resisted the urge from rolling my eyes.

"Im informing you that you are my mate." I heard her heart's pace picked up. "you're nothing but my mate. Don't expect to be treated differently from the others. You're not my equal, nothing. You're just a mere worker."

Lauren nodded and I took notice of her tamed hair that was in a slick back with two black clips at the side of her hair.

"Yes, your majesty."

"Look at me." I commanded her and Lauren raised her head hesitantly.

Our eyes met and my beast went feral in my head.

Claim her.

Her dark brown eyes stared into my red ones and I couldn't help but notice the slight sadness lingering in them.

"Along with the others, your skills will be tested to see which area you fit perfectly." Lauren nodded and I smirked slightly.

I knew she was captivated by my eyes. It's not everyday you see a vampire with red eyes, or ever. The royals are the only vampires with red eyes and we're hardly around so it's rare to see red eyes naturally.

"You're dismissed. I have a guard standing outside waiting to take you to the workers quarters." I told her and Lauren bowed hesitantly before leaving the throne room.

I blew my lips outwards and sighed.

What am I supposed to do?

I didn't want a mate but I also wanted one. I never thought of what it'd be like to have a mate. I was only interested in casual hook-ups and that's the end. I've never seen myself pursuing something romantic with anyone.

The hunger for blood flew through my body.

I mind linked my guard to get me three blood donors and I waited.

Not even ten seconds later, a royal guard entered along with three female blood donors. I thanked him and dismissed him. The donors came and started touching on me, initiating that they wanted something in return.

I smirked and grabbed one of the female blood donors by her face and placed my lips on hers.

She kissed me back and the other two took their clothes off. I got up from the throne and took my shirt off and we got busy.

The blood lasts longer and it fulfils my needs.

I didn't kill these ones— not yet. They were my three favorite donors and if I was being honest, I don't think I'll ever kill them.

I read the file over once more, not comprehending anything. I rubbed my hand over my eyes and took a deep breath in.

I read her file over, as if trying to memorize every information in it.

It's weird how she has her grandmother's last name. I wasn't going to question it because she could simply be adopted. That's the only reasonable explanation to why her parents aren't known and why she has her grandmother's last name.

Lauren is so beautiful.

I stared at the picture that sat in her file and traced my finger over her face.

I slammed her file shut, deciding that was enough for tonight.
