The next day

Athena was supposedly getting back today and I was excited. She hasn't responded to my messages from yesterday and I was worried but I still held Solana to her word.

I heard cars skating to a stop and I looked through the window from her room. One of her guards opened the door and then the same guard and another one took someone out of the car.

The person seemed sick.

I realized that it was Athena after they closed the door.

"Get a fucking doctor down here!" One of the guards yelled.

The guards held her as she limped inside. I rushed downstairs. I know they didn't come upstairs because I could hear the chaos downstairs.

I went to the living room where the noise was the loudest and stood beside Solana. She glanced at me as they laid Athena's unconscious body on the couch.

"She's weak." Solana muttered as the doctor placed a stethoscope on her chest and checked her vitals. "Her heart is hardly beating."

I stared at her wide eyed as she muttered those words to me.

Her heart is hardly beating?

What is that supposed to mean?

Is she going to die?

"Get me three packets of O+ blood." The doctor said to one of the guards.

"What is the human doing here?" One of them said when they saw me. Solana growled at him lowly, a clear threat in her voice.

The guard came back with the packets of blood and he took one and ripped it open and placed it Athena's mouth. The blood messed up the couch but no one seemed to mind as they waited for a response from their queen.

From where I stood, I could see her finger twitching.

Her hand raised and she held the packet of blood in her hand as she squeezed everything in her mouth. I let out a breath of relief I didn't know I was holding in. The doctor handed her the other packet of blood and turned to the guards who brought her in.

"What happened when her behaviour started changing?"

"She was eating. She was fed blood on the faes territory and she had a heater with blood in the car. We made sure that she always had blood in stock." One of them said.

The doctor hummed in thought.

"Human, you're her personal server. When was the last time she fed?" I froze as all the attention turned to me. I swallowed.

"Um, I think," I tried to remember the last time I saw her drinking blood. I can't recall. I lifted my shoulders slowly and avoided eye contact with her.

"She deserves to be punished." One of the seven guards snapped. "She isn't doing her duty. One of them is to make sure that the queen is always fed."

Solana was behind him in an instant, her hand pushing his neck to the side, exposing his pulse point.

"That human," Solana pointed to me. "is your future queen and I don't think my sister would appreciate the disrespect towards her." She snapped the guy's neck and he fell to the ground.

"Everybody, calm down." The doctor said. "I think your highness is just starving. Condensing the amount of blood I'm being informed she consumed today, her body is startled by the amount of blood being received so it's opening a big appetite for blood. She'll experience blood lusting in a few hours if she isn't fed, specifically by her." The doctor pointed to me and looked at me through his glasses. "You're her mate, no?"
