Two days later

The alpha of the werewolf nation was coming today and Athena insisted that I tag along with her but I didn't want to. I was scared of wolves. When I told her that, she just laughed and promised me that nothing was going to happen to me. I just ignored her and went right back to bed. They were coming over for dinner so I had a lot of time to spare with her before she had to go.

I groaned as she nudged me.

She's been trying to get me to get up for the past three minutes. I wasn't moving because I didn't want to get up out of her bed that feels like it was made from clouds.

"I want attention." She whined and I opened my eyes to give her a look so she could see I was tired and irritated.

"Let me sleep in peace."

"No."

She poked my cheek and I sighed. I rubbed my eyes and sat up in the bed and looked at her with squinted eyes.

"What?"

"I made you breakfast." She said and I inhaled deeply. That's seriously not what she woke me up for.

"It's nine in the morning. Please let me sleep." I grumbled and took up a pillow and brought my knees up to my chest. I placed the pillow on it and laid my head down.

"Technically, you're supposed to be cleaning but whatever."

I ignored her. She knows I'll do it later.

Athena sighed, finally giving up — or so I thought.

She tugged my legs down and pulled me down so that I was on my back and tbe recoil made me bite my lip, hard.

"Ow, Athena! What the f–" I groaned as I placed my hand over my mouth.

I tasted the metallic taste in my mouth and rolled out of the bed.

"My love, I'm sorry."

This is what Nana means she says ramping brings cramping.

I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror at the bruise on my lower lip. My gum had a chomp of flesh missing and my two front teeth left an imprint.

"I'm sorry. Let me see it." Athena came to the bathroom door and I sighed.

"It's fine, Athena."

I took my toothbrush from the cupholder and did what I needed to do before I started to brush my teeth.

"Baby."

I ignored her, even though butterflies danced in my stomach.

"I'm really sorry. I should've listened and stopped messing around. Please let me see it."

My subconscious was telling me to not hold it against her but my mind refused to let it go that easily.

Athena wrapped her arms around my waist as she looked at me through the mirror.

My bonnet stayed intact the entire night so luckily, I didn't have to be looking at a crazy hair right now. I need to get it down, I'll cornrow it today in style. Maybe all back with hearts at the side.

Yeah, I could do that.

I rinsed my mouth and Athena still didn't budge as she still begged to let her see the bruise properly. My lip was still burning and I wiped my tongue over it multiple times to cool the harsh burn from the Colgate.

"Athena, leave it. This is why this," I motioned to my lip that was continuously bleeding. "–happened because you don't ease off."

Her face fell slightly and I instantly regret saying it.
