Lauren Holness
I woke up, expecting to be in pain but in all honesty, it felt like I just woke up from a long nap. The bed I woke up in was soft, softer than the bunk bed. My eyes scanned my surroundings and I realized where I was.
Oh.
The room looks different from this angle.
I had no bruises, no pain, no wounds, nothing. I was healed.
I got up from the bed and put my shoes on, deciding to leave. She doesn't likes me so I doubt she'd want for me to stay in her room longer than I needed to.
I was about to open the door when the door opened itself.
Athena walked in with a tray in her hands and she looked at me as if shocked to see that I was up.
"Oh, your highness, I was just leaving." I told her, waiting for her to step aside so that I can leave.
Athena was quiet for a while and I glanced at her face.
"Sit."
There was no room in her voice that had an argument and I did as told, going to sit on her bed. Athena rested the tray on my lap and my eyes widened while I balanced it.
Oh. Um?
"Eat up and then we talk."
I was skeptical about the entire situation. She's being nice, unusually nice.
I looked down at the tray and looked at the plates. There was rice and peas with fried chicken and what smelt like barbecue gravy alongside with a fruit dish and fruit punch flavoured juice.
Ooh, yummy.
"Did you cook this?" I asked her lowly.
"Yes."
What if she poisons me?
As if reading my mind, she spoke up. "I didn't spike the drink or the food with anything."
I nodded and took up the fork, tasting some of the food slowly. Athena sighed and went to sit down on the couch, turning on the tv that was in front of it. I looked at the other tv that was in front o the bed.
She did not need two televisions.
Oh! This tastes good.
Damn, she can cook.
I ate the food pretty quickly after savoring the delicious taste of the first bite. I was done within 20 minutes, watching the television with her whilst eating.
I rested the tray on the bedside table and Athena turned and looked at me.
"Ready to talk?"
I nodded. "Yes, your highness."
She clicked her tongue against her teeth
and inhaled."I'm sorry."
What?
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion.
"For everything, for the way how I've been treating you and for the way how I've been acting."
Ohhh.
"You don't deserve my behaviour towards you. On the first day of meeting you, I should've never been cold towards you, especially knowing how significant you are to me."
I see.
"I've traumatized you, yelled at you, treated you poorly but most of all, I have come to my senses, and I'm hoping that you'll find it in you to forgive me and to give me a chance with you. "
Oh? This is what we're doing?
I didn't know what to say to her other than to stare into her red eyes. They stared at me, almost as if begging me to say yes.
"Okay." I said. Knowing that the word didn't bring a lot of clarification, I added, "Yes. I'll give you a chance and I forgive you."
I hope I didn't regret this.
I had so many things to worry about.
One, is she abusive? Will she feed on me without my consent? How bad is her bloodlust? Her anger?
Two, is she loyal? Will she drop all her booty calls? I know she has those.
Three, I'm her mate, right? Being her mate, doesn't that mean I become queen, too, or some representative beside her?
Four, I'm a human. How will that work?
Five, how will the mating process works? I know marking goes on and I'm a human, again, with human teeth. How will they leave a mark on her? Can they leave a mark on her?
Six, what about Solana?
Seven, she's Athena. How long until her nice facade last for?
Right, what will she bring to the ta—
"I can read your mind." She cuts me off from my thoughts.
What?
My face fell as I stared at her.
"I can answer all your questions, let's just take this slow. We'll go on your pace and we can do what you want to do."
I gulped.
"How are you able to read my mind?"
"My blood is flowing through your veins currently."
"Oh."
Hold on a minute—
"Did I—"
"Yes you did. "
EWWW—
Athena chuckled and I scrunched my face in disgust.
Ew, just ew.
