I sat down in my throne as I waited for Solana to arrive with the humans.

What's taking her so long? She knows I'm busy.

I smelt an alluring scent and my head looked up towards the door as Solana entered. My beast piped up at the scent and I tried to pinpoint where the scent was coming from.

Solana turned towards the humans and started yelling at them.

"Bow, you imbeciles! Show some respect to the Queen!" What pissed on her?

The humans bowed and I realized that Solana had blood on her shirt and that's when I counted the humans.

Twenty-nine.

Solana came and sat down in the throne beside me.

It wasn't meant for her but she uses it.

"Isn't it supposed to be thirty? Why is there twenty-nine humans?" I mumbled.

"I killed one." Before I could ask why, she continued, "he disrespected you."

"And that's why you shortened my staff?"

"Yes. It would've turned into a bigger problem in the future."

I shook my head and stood.

"Rise. "

The humans rose.

The scent was stronger than before and I walked towards them trying to pinpoint where it was, who it was coming from.

Mate.

Playing it off, I started speaking, "As each of you know, you're here to serve me."

Not her.

"Now, there are some rules." I paused as I kept walking down the line of the twenty-nine. "Permission is asked for everything. You want to leave my premises? You ask me. You want to take time off? You ask me."

"No dating in the work field. If I were to ever find out, instant death."

"No sex."

"If you are pregnant, speak now."

None of the women spoke up.

I was getting closer.

"You are allowed to eat while working, do whatever. Don't get distracted."

I stood in front of the last girl.

So she's the source.

"And lastly, you cannot contact the human world. If it is reported to me that you are trying to do so or you have done so, you and whoever you've contacted will be dealt with accordingly."

I walked back to the throne and sat down, placing my leg over the other.

"Introduce yourself starting from my left." Starting from her.

I really didn't care about having a mate.

Having one gives me power but also a weakness.

"My name is Lauren Holness."

"My name is London Fox."

"My name is Marcella Vaughn."

And they kept introducing themselves.

They were finally finished and I dismissed them, having my guards escort them to their quarters.

"Lauren Holness, stay back." I called out to the girl.

She looked at London, her friend I'm assuming, and Lauren turned around and walked back to her previous space, holding her head down in respect.

I dismissed the guards and Solana looked at me with raised eyebrows.

"That means you leave too." I told her and she raised her eyebrows even further.

"You're racist."

I gave her a look.

"She wasn't the only person of color, Solana."

"You want a toy?"

"Just get the fuck out."

My sister smirked at me and used her speed to get out of the room.

"Come forward, Lauren."
