Solana approached the cave along with three men behind her as security detail. Inside was quiet. Every step echoed. Her senses were on high alert. She could smell Ophelia from inside the cave.

The smell of darkness stunk.

When they came upon Ophelia's body, she motioned for the men to take her up. They held her like a sack of potatoes, one man holding her arms and the other holding her feet, as they exited the cave.

The faes watched from afar as Solana and her team evacuated the cave.

A sweet scent evaded her senses and she froze in her tracks. It wasn't blood. It wasn't arousal.

"I'll be back." Solana said to the security and he nodded respectfully to the queen's sister.

Solana followed her senses as they led her to a faerie.

The faerie tilted her head in curiosity as she stared at Solana

Solana stared at her.

"You're my mate." The fae said and Solana nodded. "I can see that you're busy so you can come back later." The fae chirped and her wings fluttered behind her.

"And why wont you come with me?" Solana asked.

"Oh, I could?"

Solana nodded and the fae smiled.

"When you come back."

"What's your name?" Solana asked the fae.

Her brown hair fell in her face and Solana raised her hand to push it behind her ear. The fae blushed and Solana smiled.

"Lily."

Solana didn't spare Ophelia's body any mercy as she dropped the body harshly on the concrete floor.

"Ouch." Ophelia said in Lauren's voice.

Amoya poured sea salt around Lauren and Ophelia's bodies as she muttered an incantation, binding the power inside the circle.

Amoya raised her hands and Lauren's head fell back in the chair. Amoya chanted the incantation in Latin as she used one of her hands and hovered it over Ophelia's body. Lauren's lips parted as black vapor exited her body and entered Ophelia's.

Athena sunk her fangs in Lauren's neck and Solana knew what she was attempting to do.

Turn her.

Athena's venom entered her body but almost instantly, it rejected it.

Blood pooled in Lauren's mouth and it leaked down her chin. Athena pulled back from Lauren and she felt her heart break.

She couldn't turn her.

Her body was rejecting it.

Lauren's body fell limp and almost instantly, her essence started leaving her body. Her skin paled.

Athena untied her as Solana clasped the enchanted handcuffs on Ophelia's wrist. Ophelia groaned slightly.

"I'll put Ophelia in her cell while Judas and Venice prepare the spot for her execution." Mateo said as he excused himself and the others.

The scene was heartbreaking for all of them.

None of them knew what it felt like to lose a mate.

Dead silent - that's how the room was.

Athena wiped the blood from Lauren's mouth with her palm and looked down at her lifeless body.

No pulse.

No heartbeat.

No breathing.

No mate bond.

Nothing.

Solana went and kneeled beside her sister, hugging her from the side. She wanted cry, but she had to be strong for her sister.

"Her dying wish was for me to move on, Solana." Athena said softly. "How can I fulfill that?"

Solana pecked her forehead and rested her head on Athena's shoulder. She didn't know what to say to her other than to be there for her.

"How are you going to bury her?" Amoya asked with hesitation. She hoped it wasn't too soon to ask.

Athena licked her lips as she stared down at Lauren, her other half.

"In my garden."

Fertility.

"She loves nature and she loved my garden. I'm sure she'll be at peace there." Athena said. Her hand went to Lauren's cheek as she stared down her.

She couldn't take her eyes off of her.

She should've, but she couldn't.

Amoya nodded.

Solana got up and stood when Athena nudged her head softly. Athena stood up with Lauren in her arms. Her arm flapped from her body and Athena sped to the infirmary.

The royal doctor greeted the queen with a bow.

"Your majesty."

"Put her on ice." Athena said and the doctor took Lauren in his arms.

His widened when he realized that she was dead - one of his queens was dead.

The doctor put Lauren's body on ice nonetheless. Athena sped down to Ophelia's cell and grabbed her by her hair. She didn't care about the pain she was inflicting on her.

She deserves everything she was feeling.

Ophelia whimpered in pain but didn't dare protest.

She knew she deserve this.

She knew what was coming.

Athena pulled her up the steps and towards the field.

Athena was angry.

This is her fault.

She threw Ophelia on the board floor that was set up. Immediately, guards tied her to the ground by her ankles and chained her wrists.

They didn't need it.

Athena wanted to kill her using her hands.

Three-quarters of the nations were there already, eager to see Ophelia finally put down.

The council was there, everyone including London who stood with a huge belly in front of her. Her eyes were blood shot. She was crying none stop.

Upon receiving the news that her best friend died, she fell to her knees as a sob wracked through her body. It was as if someone told her that her mother was dead. London cried, and cried until her eyes went dry. A lot of emotions ran through her body at the moment.

They didn't have many milestones. Lauren didn't meet her baby. They haven't had girls day. They haven't had their double dates or their picnics together. Lauren didn't make it to her baby shower, she didn't make it to the gender reveal.

Amoya did the speech, Ophelia pleaded guilty, and it was time for the execution.

Athena was being handed a sword but she declined.

Ophelia looked up at her.

"I'm sorry."

Athena gripped Ophelia's head with such force that it ripped from her body. Her blood spurted out and Athena watched coldly as her body fell.

She looked at her head and smirked.
