HUENING KAI—

Our trip eventually ended, much to my disappointment. TXT and Y/N's group headed back to Seoul and back to work. I felt sad, mainly because I knew I wouldn't be able to get to see her as much. Those past few days I was finally really able to get to know her and get closer to her, and now that I had seen her relaxed side I wanted to see it again. Our relationship had been progressing to the point where I'd call us close friends again, with the way we comfortably talked and teased the other on the trip.

However, when we returned to Seoul, it was all gone.

It gave me whiplash. Despite seeing her in passing at award shows and Music Bank, she didn't acknowledge me, barely even looking my way. I texted her about our song, trying to get us to meet up again like she said she would—but never got a response. She was back to her usual, cold self that didn't want to do anything with me.

I felt hurt and angry, more than upset. I was past the point of upset—why was she doing this to me for the umpteenth time? She'd pull me in and get me excited, wanting more, and then in the blink of an eye she would switch up. I knew she knew I was interested in her, I knew she knew I wanted to be close to her again. That entire trip, I did my best to make that clear to her, and it seemed like she had been receiving it well, enjoying my company and flirting back.

So, why?

And even worse, she remained close with the other members of TXT, only treating me this way. She approached Beomgyu freely, joked around with them, but when I was around she avoided me like the plague.

I felt like she was toying with me.

My members sensed the difference between us now and when we were on our trip. I spoke to them about it several times, and they all seemed to agree on one thing. She was avoiding me because she was scared of how close we were getting and scared of getting hurt. But I couldn't understand that—how could I ever hurt her? What could I even do that would hurt her?

This frustration of mine eventually boiled over, exploding. It was one night before we were had practiced, and everyone was in one of Hybe's storage rooms, trying to find our bins that had our props in it for our next performance together.

"Wait, I think Kai—yours is back here for some reason. Y/N, you too. Somebody must've misplaced them." I heard Taehyun's voice call out to us.

"I'll check." I said, Y/N following closely behind me. The two of us reached the bin in the back corner of the storage room, shuffling through it. I didn't see them.

"What are you talking about? There's nothing in here." Y/N called out to Taehyun.

It was quiet for a bit, and I had finally realized everyone's voices were suddenly gone. I heard the door shut, keys dangling to lock it.

"What the fuck?" Y/N asked, running to the exit. I followed her, realizing that everyone had left.

"Taehyun! What are you doing?!" I yelled, banging on the door. "You left us in here!"

"Sorry guys!" I heard Beomgyu's voice calling out from the other side, playfully. "Call us when you've sorted things out~"

"What the hell?!" Y/N yelled, kicking the door. "Beomgyu, I'm serious. Let us out, please." She said desperately.

"Sorry, Y/N. I will when you stop being a jerk to Huening." Beomgyu reassured her on the other side. "Bye bye now! Love you guys!"
