"*Dear, winter in Japan is very cold, so make sure to wear thick clothes!*"
"*On another note -*"
"*Happy New year!*"

"Happy new year."

"I didn't know you celebrate New year," Eitou said with a small sense of surprise.

Illuminated barely by the yellow streetlights and the cold silver light of the moon; Hibari stood arrogantly in front of Eitou's house, as if he owned it. By technicality - he does, but who cares?

The other didn't answer, and simply stuffed a small black box into Eitou's hands. Dressed in a black new year kimono, Hibari simply hummed towards him, "Open it."

"What is this? Are you proposing to me?" Eitou asked jokingly, and lifted the lid up. It took him a while before he realized that it was meant to be flipped open and not lifted open. After successfully passing the correct IQ test, Eitou saw the content of the box.

"You like it?" Hibari asked, of course, less of a question, more of a statement.

To this, the black box is effortlessly thrown into the prefect's face — of course, his ultra fast reflex is simply a cheat in this situation, as he casually tilted his head to avoid the makeshift missile.

Out of the black box, rolling on the ground, a small key bounced around before settling beside a rock.

"Like? What do you mean like? How did you get the key to my house?"

"Why should I tell you?" The delinquent said disdainfully.

"...? Because I'm the damn house owner!?"

"Oh. The little baby gave it to me."

"Ba-" Eitou's smile twitches incessantly. The gardener struggles for a while with his expression before calming down once more.

Throughout the when process, Hibari thoughtfully watches the other struggle as if he's watching a show.

"Hibari-san, be honest. If me and Reborn both fall into the water, who would you save?"

In respond, the delinquent answered disdainfully, "Why should I save any of you?"

Eitou's fist hardens involuntarily.

"Forget it, what did I expect from you."

"You don't like it?" Hibari irritatingly asked nonchalantly, hand already going to the key to retrieve it back.

"-!" Eitou smacked his hand and took the key, "Even if I don't like it, why would I let you have it?"

"Anyways, why did you give me my house's key in the first place?"

"You always lose your key." Hibari said, self righteously.

Eitou's smile uncontrollably twitched. Thankfully, he remembered the self-calming method his therapist taught him in his past life and barely managed to say; "When normal people often lose their keys, their friends would gift them a way to not lose the keys- not the keys directly!"

To this tactful sentence, Hibari curled his lips disdainfully with eyes that seems to say 'Troublesome'.

Eitou's eyes are smiling so hard from anger that it looked like he had closed his eyes.

After a while, the good natured gardener simply sighed and let the matter go. Who made him so tolerant to this brat?

Anyways, it's good enough that this child is willing to give gifts, good deeds must be rewarded accordingly.
