Days passed, ahaan was busy in his office work but he managed to give equal time to his siblings, umer returned to college, and zara started feeling comfortable with her brothers though she still hesitated to cry infront of them.On zara's admission day, ahaan handed her admission forms the night before to fill and leave them on his desk.
The next day Ahaan stormed into the living room where umer was scrolling his insta and zara was engrossed in her fiction book.
Ahaan grumpily snatched book from Zara's hand, his eyes blazing with impatience
"Kab se forms ka wait kar raha hu, yaha tum book padte hue baithi ho?" Ahaan said angrily
"Ooh bhul gayi thi, abhi laati hu!" Zara rushed upstairs leaving steps in between
"Zara araam se gir jaogi" ahaan yelled after her
She came back and handed ahaan forms with wide smile. Ahaan and umer noticed the biggest grin on her face.
"Kya baat hai itna khush kyu ho" umer asked
"Pheli baar father's name par Fahad Malik likha hai and no one stopped me" she said with a grin
Her words pierced Ahaan's heart, he took a step closer, his hand reached out to pat zara's head in affection
"Lagta hai khushi me surname likhna bhulgayi" Ahaan said
"Surname nahi hai mera saare documents me zara likha hai, malik surname se Mr. Ahmed ko problem thi aur Shah surname unhone diya nahi" she said taking back her book from Ahaan's hand
"Zara malik, mai deta hu tumhe yeh surname and I promise you'll never have to hide it" Ahaan said firmly returning forms and pen to her.
She took the pen and wrote "zara mailk" with a sense of pride and belonging
As the evening wore on zara was feeling bored as she completed her book in the noon and she have nothing to do, so she ran into in Ahaan's room without knocking only to meet with his stern gaze.
"Get out, knock the door, and wait for my permission before entering" he said sternly, this was not the first time zara entered without permission.
She rolled her eyes, and went back to knock and when ahaan gave permission she entered.
"Kitni baar kaha hai knock karke aaya karo. Tameez nahi hai tum dono ko bhi, aur stop rolling your eyes on my face" Ahaan scolded her.
"Acha na ab to knock kiya hai aur umer bhai ke hisse ka mujhe kyu daant rahe ho" she said pouting
"Batao kyu aayi thi" he asked cupping her face
"Mujhe books khareedni hai aap mujhe book store le chalein"
"Umer se kehdo na beta mai busy hu"
"Nahi mujhe unke sath nahi jana kuch din phele gayi thi unhone ek book khareedne nahi di, poora time 'jaldi chalo jaldi chalo' kar rahe the" she said mimicking umer
Ahaan chuckled seeing her.
"Mai akeli chali jao?" She asked with sparkling eyes
"No need, mana kiya hai na maine ya to umer ya mere sath hi jaogi kahi bhi" ahaan said closing his laptop
"Par kyu, phele bhi jaati thi mai akele" she asked
Ahaan ignored her question for the second time and moved towards the desk to pick his car keys.
"Shoes pehen ke aao, chalte hai!" He said
Zara put on her shoes, but struggled to tie laces. After several attempts she stomped her foot in frustration.
