Umer dragged zara to the living room from his car, her feet stumbling as she struggled to keep up with his fierce pace, she had her explanations and justifications but umer's eyes were so dark that she didn't dared to utter a word, her past memories came flooding back like a nightmare that refused to end, the night Ahmed Shah tried to burn her came infront of her, all her surroundings felt like they will eat her, she was fighting against her own demons, the ones that haunted her for so long, the ones she thought she had left behind, but they were back, her heart screamed that umer will never trust her just like everyone in the past did, he made her stand in the center of room, her face was so pale umer's mind was clouded with anger he saw the fear in zara's eyes which according to him indicated that she did something wrong that's why she is afraid but he failed to recognise that it's her past because of which she is afraid."How dare you?" He yelled so loudly his words echoing off the wall of the mansion, probably his voice reaching out of mansion gates and that was it for zara her last ounce of confidence started stripping off to defence herself.
"Himmat kaisa hui tumhari mere mana karne ke baad ruhan se milne ki, kya kar rahi thi us building me, haan?" He asked furiously but zara remained silent her voice stuck in her throat
"Kuch puch raha hu jawaab do, kya rishta hai tumhara usse ki mere aur bhaiya ki baat nahi maani?" Her body started shivering visibly
"Kyu kiya zara, kyuu?" He yelled again making her flinch
"Kis haq se roses bheje usne? Kis haq se keh raha tha ki wo protect karega tumhe wo bhi mujhse?" He said his face turned beet red with rage, his eye welling up with tears as he struggled to control his emotions
Umer's patience was wearing thin and her silence was adding fuel to his anger, he stepped closer and grasp her shoulders with his both hands, his eyes blazing with anger
"Don't test my patience zara, I. Need. Bloody. Answers" he yelled again pressing each words he begged her with his eyes to utter a single word, just a tiny denial, but she remained silent which was creating a havoc inside his heart
Not even a single word of umer fell in her ears all she could was hear was echoes of everyone's voice
"Koi aisa kaam nahi karna jisse Mrs. Shah ka aks tum me nazar aaye"
"Tumhare bhai'o ke saamne tumari image zero kardunga"
"Tumare bhai b to dekhe tum kaisi ladki ho"
"we trust you don't break our trust"
"yeh ladki kisi ki sagi nahi hosakti"
"lejao ise dur"
"Bhaago zara wo mardenge tumhe"
"You are a curse""Kyu kiya tumne aisa?" Umer asked again but she didn't respond and all his boundaries crossed its limits and enraged umer slapped her so hard that she was about to fell on ground but a strong hand held her back from falling
She lifted her face up to look the owner of the hands that held her from falling, and it was Ahaan, she felt the urge to burst into tears but even after being slapped her eyes remained dry there was no sign of tears in her eyes as if her body had shut down all emotional responses because somewhere she anticipated a slap. She held her left cheek which was burning from hard, stinging pain. For the last time she looked towards Ahaan and ran towards her room and locked it behind.
Ahaan was stunned for a moment, he struggled to process what he just witnessed, but in an instant his jaw clenched, his nostril flared he snapped towards umer and without thinking twice he slapped umer hard across the face.
"Are you out of your mind?" Ahaan lashed out at umer helding his lapels and pushed him on the couch
"Puchoge bhi nahi kya hua hai?" Umer asked controlling his anger
"Jo b hua tumhe uspar hath nahi uthana chahiye tha!" Ahaan snapped at him.
"Mat kare uspar itna trust iss qaabil nahi hai wo!" Umer snapped back
