The three of them sat at the dining table, Umer and Zara happily filling food onto Ahaan’s plate like it was a competition.
"Buss kardo dono itnà toh mai poore din me nahi khata hu jitna tumlog mujhe ek time pe khila raha hu!" Ahaan said
"Humne itni pyaar se banaya sab, aap aisa karoge?" Zara pouted
"Tumara jab stomach full hogaya to khati ho? Rona shuru kardeti ho tum toh mai force karu to, ab mai bhi rodu?" Ahaan asked
"Agar aapko realise nahi hua to batadu khadoos ban rahe ho aap chup chaap finish karein wo sab !" Umer gave him a side eye look
"Ohk, I didn't realise, sorry, par dekho tum hi meri plate itna kaise khaonga!" Ahaan said his voice came more like a whine.
Umer glanced at Zara, and she gave him the tiniest nod, as if answering his unspoken question.
"Thik hai fir aap ka jitna mann ho utna hi khalein!" Umer said
"Par sab thoda thoda taste karein please bohut pyar se banaya hai humne!" Zara requested sweetly
"Ab iss tone me please karogi to poori plate hi finish karna padega!" Ahaan smiled picking a spoon
"Bhaiya bhaiya wait, mai khilau aapo apne hath se?" Zara asked
"Mai bhi khilonga, har baar akele aajati ho pyar jatane mujhe bhi include karliya kiya karo!" Umer slapped the back of her head
"Aapko bhaiya ko satane ke alawa dusra way aata hai pyar jatane ka??" Zara rolled her eyes and sat on the chair next to Ahaan and snatched spoon from his hand
Ahaan said nothing just sat still, watching them bicker, listening to their childish complaints, letting their laughter wash over him. His gaze went on Zara as she carefully blew on the spoonful of food before bringing it near his lips. His chest tightened, his throat felt dry.
His heart whispered that this moment, the warmth of their voices, the innocence in their arguments, the love in their gestures was going to end soon or atleast he would not be able to witness it.
His eyes became teary just with the thought. He quickly drank a glass of water to compose himself.
"Buss zaruu!" he stopped her hand softly when she brought the next spoon near his lips.
"Kya hua bhaiya acha nahi laga?" Zara’s face fell
"Nahi meri jaan bohut maze ka hai buss mera mann nahi kar raha aaj kuch khane ka!" Ahaan said
Zara pouted, but before she could argue, Umer intervened
"Bhaiya aap kal raat se thik nahi lagrahe, kuch hua hai? Koi problem hai toh share karein humse!" Umer asked softly
"Nahi aisa kuch nahi hai buss headache horaha hai toh isliye!" Ahaan tried to cover up.
"Acha toh aap kuch khayein to sahi meal skip karne se thodi pain kam hoga, mai aapko apne hath ki coffee banakar dunga thik hojaoge, raat me dawayi deta khakar sojaen!" Umer snatched spoon from Zara's hand and held it up to Ahaan's lips. This time Ahaan didn’t deny him. He opened his mouth quietly and let Umer feed him because his heart screamed that these little moments were the only medicine he truly needed.
"Bhai ke hath se khana tha aapko mere hath se nahi, aap bhai se hi zyada pyar karte ho, katti aapse!" Zara scoffed, folding her arms dramatically.
"Aisi koi baat nahi hai, dono se equal pyar karta hu mai, drama queen!" Ahaan chuckled softly pulling her cheeks
"Proof karein abhi ke abhi ki dono se equal pyar karte hai!" Zara demanded
"Aur kaise proof hoga wo madam?" Ahaan raised his eyebrow
