97. Ahaan's Reaction

As the minutes ticked by, Zayyan and Umer finally walked in.

Umer looked at Ahaan and his eyes welled up instantly he knew he was done for his life today.

Zayyan entered inside holding umer's hand, his gaze fell on zara and aiman. Zara was cuddling up tightly to aiman seeing zayyan in his uniform, she was afraid of police they makes her feel like everything she cherish would be at risk of being taken away.

"Zara apne room me jao beta!" Zayyan said softly, his voice gentle but firm. He knew Zara's sensitive nature and he wanted her to stay away from the conversation.

Zara looked at her brothers worriedly and retreated to her room, ahaan will never like if she disobeys any elder.

"Sambhaalo apne bhai ko!" Zayyan pushed umer towards Ahaan when zara was nowhere in the sight, it was more like he threw umer on Ahaan.

"Bhaiya!" Aiman gasped.

Ahaan caught umer's shoulder roughly when he was about to fall down.

"Kya kiya tumne aisa?" Ahaan asked sharply.

Zayyan knew both brothers well. He was aware that Umer's deep respect for Ahaan would make it difficult for him to confess his mistakes on his own and he wanted Ahaan to know everything he really wanted umer to stop involving in fights and only Ahaan can bring him on line.

Umer didn't replied anything, his head was bowed down while tears kept rolling down his cheeks.

"Yeh lo!" Zayyan handed a letter to Ahaan.

Ahaan was in no state of asking any questions. Without a word, he took the letter.

As he began to read, his eyes scanned the page with an intensity that made the words blur together for a moment.

"Baitho Ahaan, baithke padho mai batata hu sab!" Zayyan guided him towards the couch.

Ahaan sat down, his focus still on the letter. The words danced on the page, but their meaning was crystal clear.

His face grew paler with each passing sentence, his jaw clenched in anger and disappointment.

Meanwhile Umer stood frozen, his body shaking silently as tears streamed down his face. He was genuinely terrified of Ahaan's reaction. All his life he had convinced himself that he was grown up now, Ahaan's sternness wouldn't affect him. But the reality of his actions hit him like a ton of bricks. He knew the gravity of his mistake and the consequences that followed. The fear of disappointing Ahaan, of facing his wrath, made his very existence tremble.

Aiman rubbed his back slowly shooking her head telling him silently to not cry, Umer's heart yearned to break free from the constraints of masculinity and bury his face in Aiman's shoulder, to cry out his fears and doubts.

He wanted to confess to aiman, to tell her that he was scared, that the thought of punishment and Ahaan's disappointment was suffocating him. He wanted to reveal the truth - that he loved Minaheel, and his actions were driven by a desperate need to protect her. He was feeling that this secrets will crush him and Aiman's presence was the only thing that brought him comfort.

But the presence of Ahaan and Zayyan, two authoritative figures, silenced him. Umer's eyes darted towards them, and he bit back his words, the fear of judgment and repercussions holding him back.

"Yeh umer ke case ki bond copy hai, isme likha hai ki umer ko sirf isliye chord rahe hai kyuki victim ne koi complaint file nahi ki, umer ek restaurant me kisi ladke ke sath ladayi kar raha tha, wo ladayi itni badh gyai ki isne uss ladke ko uthakar terrace se niche hi phek diye, shukar manao ki wo ladka zinda, haa theek toh bilkul bhi nahi hai bohut haddiya tuti hai uss bichare ki lifetime injuries bhi aayi hai shayad ab kabhi apne pair par na chal sake magar jo bhi ho wo bach gaya aur isliye tumara bhai yaha khada hai warna murder case me zindagi bhar jail me hota.. ab bhi koi guarantee nahi hai ki zyada der bahar reh sakega, I don't know wo koun ladka hai na naam pata hai na shakal, police gayi hai hospital inquiry ke liye par jab tak usey hosh nahi aata tab tak kuch nahi pata hoga doctors milne se mana kar rahe hai, agar wo ladke ki family aati hai FIR karane to isey arrest karna padega attempt to murder ke case me!" Zayyan stated all the things which umer said to him.
