With time spent alone, Irene came to a conclusion—somehow, she had entered a novel world.

And not just any novel.

It was the very same book she had just finished reading.

“Hail the Grand Prince.”

And she had entered the story as the villainess—the wife of the Crown Prince, Dacia Wickson.

She had arrived at the point in the plot where the villainess was caught bullying the High Priest by her fiancé, the Crown Prince, in the palace garden.

Just as she tried to order the knights to throw the High Priest into the deep lake, the Crown Prince had arrived and witnessed the scene.

If it hadn’t been for the High Priest’s mercy, Dacia would already be dead.

Now, the romance between the Crown Prince and the High Priest had begun.

The cruel and mad Crown Prince had become smitten with the gentle, calm, and charming High Priest. It all started when the High Priest took care of him after he was injured during a secret mission—without knowing his true identity.

Since then, the Crown Prince had taken notice of him.

He saw how others treated the High Priest. Because of his charming and almost naïve personality, he was often placed in dangerous situations, nearly assaulted by both men and women.

The Crown Prince secretly assigned a guard to protect him, without the High Priest’s knowledge.

Whenever the High Priest was in danger, the guard would intervene—especially when it involved the Crown Prince’s fiancée, Dacia, who frequently tried to humiliate him in front of the nobles.

But unfortunately, she was always the one who ended up humiliated.

Many had witnessed her being thrown into the lake by the knights under the Crown Prince’s orders.

Knowing her character, people believed she deserved such treatment. No one showed her sympathy—except for the High Priest.

Now, rumors of how the Crown Prince despised his fiancée and favored the High Priest were spreading like wildfire.

If she hadn’t been the Queen’s niece, he would never have agreed to be engaged to someone like her.

Dacia’s life became even more miserable, as she had never been loved by her father. It was evident in the way she had been treated her entire life.

Even here, in her own chamber—given her status as the Duke’s daughter—it should have been grand. Instead, the chamber were too modest like a servant's quarters.

Since childhood, she had been treated unfairly by her father.

In this world, men were favored over women. Her father showered love and care upon her brother, while she was left neglected.

All her life, she had craved that affection from her family.

But to no avail.

Because of this, no one in the household treated her well. The maids and servants often ignored her, as she was not favored by the Duke.

Only Libby, her handmaiden, truly took care of her.

However, everything changed when she was told of her engagement to the Crown Prince.

For the first time, her father summoned her to see him.

Since then, she was finally treated properly. She was even allowed to dine with her family in the dining hall—something she had never experienced before, as she used to eat alone in her room, never once called upon by her father.

Dacia didn’t want to lose that attention.

Her father ordered her to gain the Crown Prince’s affection.

She tried desperately—throwing herself at him, seeking his attention.

But it only made the Crown Prince more disgusted with her.

Seeing how much the Crown Prince cared for the High Priest, Dacia often ordered or bribed others to bully him.

However, when the Crown Prince discovered her actions, she was punished.

Her father, furious, confined her to this very room, ordering her to reflect on her behavior.

She was forbidden to leave until the day of her wedding.

But Irene—who knew the ending of the story—was terrified for her life.

What should I do? I can’t stay here. I can’t just wait for the wedding day! I’m not Dacia Wickson… I’m Irene Sevan!

Irene turned her gaze toward the window.

She noticed that the height from the window to the ground wasn’t too great. At night, there would be no guards around this area.

She could escape.

Yes… I have to leave this place for now. I can’t wait here for my death. I may not be safe out there… but at least I’ll be far away from this place. That’s better than staying here.

Irene made her decision.

She would leave tonight.
