Cold.
Weightless.
Then-submerged.
She found herself lying on a calm, mirror-still lake surrounded by soft shimmering light. The water glowed faintly beneath her, warm instead of cold. Peaceful. Almost sacred.
Irene pushed herself upright slowly.
"Where... is this?" she whispered.
Her voice didn't echo-yet the world felt like it was listening.
A voice drifted from nowhere and everywhere at once.
"Irene."
She spun. "Who's there?!"
No one.
"Irene..."
Her heart pounded. "Who-who are you?"
A soft wind brushed across the lake surface, carrying a voice both gentle and ancient.
"Do not fear, child. I am the Goddess. The Goddess of Life and Death. The keeper of balance.
I am Noirceur."
Irene froze.
Goddess...?
"What do you mean?" she asked shakily. "Goddess? Why are you here? How-"
The warm glow around the lake thickened into a presence that felt like a hand resting over her heart.
"I can only enter your mind when you enter my vessel...the temple. Don't worry there's only two of us here. Dacia couldn't enter nor will she realises my presence."
Irene shook her head. "But-I haven't been to any temple. I'm trapped! I couldn't get out from here-"
"You are in it now," the Goddess answered calmly.
"The body you inhabit-is in my temple."
Irene's breath hitched.
"What... I don't understand. I'm been awake...this whole time?"
The Goddess' voice softened.
"Your soul is trapped inside that body. But Dacia is the one controlling it."
Irene's world spun.
"Dacia... she's been controlling everything? My every movement?" Her voice trembled. "She-she-"
Irene recalled the memories...
Lucas-
He kissed her! And she's responded to that kiss.
That feeling...that sensation...
That's real!
It wasn't her imagination.
Dacia had control the body, while she's was conscious to all of that.
Irene gasped as she cover her mouth.
She couldn't believe it.
"No! How could she-how could she do this?!"
"She cannot fully control it," Noirceur explained.
"You are two souls bound to one flesh. She cannot take over completely. But..."
"...if she grows stronger, your soul will shatter. And you will cease to exist."
Fear seized Irene so violently she felt her breath catch.
"No...no, no-Goddess, please..." Her voice broke. "Help me. I want to return home. I want to leave this body. I want to go back to my world-please, send me back!"
