They carefully carried the duchess back to her room.

Verick, who had just arrived, was shocked when he saw his mother's condition.

As they gently laid her on the bed, Irene instructed the maids,

"Clean her wounds first. And have a physician to check after her."

"Yes, Your Highness."

The duchess's personal maid immediately obeyed, and the other maids followed her instructions.

Irene then walked out of the room.

Verick hurried over to her.

"What happened to Mother?" he asked, not out of concern but only formality.

Irene, whose heart was filled with hatred, looked at him with cold eyes.

Before anyone could react-

Shing!

She pulled the sword from the waist of one of the palace knights in a single fluid motion.

The cold steel flashed through the air.
Verick's instincts took over as he hastily stepped aside.

The blade narrowly missed him before stopping at his throat.

Silence descended upon the estate.

"Dacia!"

Verick's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Have you completely lost your mind?"

At once, the duke's knights unsheathed their swords.

Steel clashed against steel as the palace knights immediately formed a defensive wall around Irene.

The two forces stood facing one another, neither side daring to make the first move.

Irene never took her eyes off Verick.

The sharp edge of the sword remained against his neck.

"You were in this estate the entire night."

Her voice was terrifyingly calm.

"So tell me..."

"How could you possibly not know what happened to our mother?"

Every word struck harder than the blade.

Verick frowned.

"What are you talking about?"

Irene stepped forward.

The sword followed.

"As much as you loathed her existence, she was still our mother! How could you let them hurt her?!"

Verick instinctively retreated.

"I truly know nothing."

"I wasn't anywhere near her."

"I didn't even see her until today."

"Why should I believe a single word from you?" Irene replied coldly.

"I'm not lying." Verick insisted.

Irene then turned.

Her icy gaze swept across everyone near them.

"You."

She pointed at the servants.

"Tell me...was he there, when my mother suffered?"

"If any of you lied or attempt to hide the truth..."

"All of you will die."

The servants immediately fell to their knees.
