Old Judy and Lydia served many dishes for Lucas and Arlo. The four of them sat around the table.

“Irene has told me about your predicament. We will do our best to serve you. As your host, I can only offer what we have. My apologies if you find it unsatisfactory,” Old Judy said.

“No, you’ve provided more than we expected. We are truly grateful for your hospitality,” Lucas expressed sincerely.

“Here, have a taste of this pork. It’s marinated with wine before being grilled,” Old Judy said as she placed the dish in front of them.

“Thank you.”

Both of them inhaled the aroma, clearly enjoying the scent before taking a bite.

“It tastes exquisite,” Lucas commented.

Old Judy smiled and turned to Arlo, waiting for his response.

“It’s delicious,” he said simply.

Satisfied, Old Judy nodded.

“Here, try the rest of the dishes,” Lydia added, placing more plates before them with a bright smile. It was rare for her to serve and dine with such handsome men, and she couldn’t stop glancing at them with a goofy grin.

“Eat. Stop staring at them like that,” Old Judy said, tapping Lydia on the shoulder.

“I wasn’t staring,” Lydia muttered, embarrassed, before focusing on her food.

“Every dish is delicious. I can see why so many customers come here,” Lucas remarked.

Old Judy smiled proudly.

“All of this is Irene’s recipe.”

Lucas and Arlo both looked surprised.

“She’s the reason my tavern became so popular. Once a week, she experiments with new recipes. That girl has too many ideas in her head—I can’t help but be amazed,” Old Judy said, sounding like a proud parent.

“Irene is indeed gifted,” Lucas admitted. Not only could she cook such delicacies, but she was also skilled in medicine. Thinking of her made him realize her absence.

“Won’t Irene be joining us for dinner?” he asked.

“She said she won’t be joining us. She’s already retired to her room. She’s probably tired from her journey,” Old Judy explained.

Lucas smiled, though there was a hint of disappointment in his expression.

Arlo continued eating in silence.

Meanwhile, Irene was soaking in a tub of hot water, enjoying the warmth as it relaxed her body.

A thought surfaced in her mind.

In the original plot, after Lucas saved Arlo, the two of them traveled together to a nearby town before returning to the palace, seeking shelter as assassins pursued them. During that time, Arlo developed feelings for the high priest as they spent more time together.

When their location was eventually exposed, Arlo protected Lucas. Fortunately, the Crown Prince arrived with his troops and eliminated the assassins. That was where the complex love triangle began.

But now, things had changed.

They had followed her here—something that never happened in the original story. Irene could no longer predict what would happen next.

She was worried.

What if they discovered her identity?

Or worse… what if something terrible happened to this town because of them?

The thought made her frustrated.

Irene finished her bath and stood up.

Just as she was about to step out of the tub—

The door suddenly opened.

Startled, Irene turned toward the curtain and saw a man standing beyond it.

It was Lucas.

“Aaaahhhh!!!” Irene screamed, immediately sinking back into the tub.

“M-my apologies! I—I didn’t know someone was here!” Lucas quickly turned his back in panic.

Both of them were equally shocked.

When he had opened the door, he had not expected to see a woman bathing behind the curtain.

“Why are you here?!” Irene demanded angrily. Completely disregard the status between them.

“I—I wanted to clean myself… I was led here to bathe, I—”

“Leave! Now!” Irene shouted.

Just as Lucas were about to leave, Lydia appeared at the scene.

“Ah—I’m so sorry, Irene! I didn’t know you were here,” Lydia said, feeling guilty as she was the one who had brought Lucas there. She quickly shut the door.

Realizing that the woman inside was Irene only made Lucas feel even more guilty. He hurried away.

As he left, he passed by Arlo.

Arlo caught a glimpse of Lucas’s flustered expression and felt confused.

Meanwhile, Irene buried her face in embarrassment, feeling utterly humiliated.
