Nickolai's body trembled under the soft press of her lips, a shiver racing down his spine as the warmth of her mouth ignited something deep within him. Her breath mingled with his, sweet and tentative, her tongue brushing lightly against his lower lip.

He froze for a heartbeat, overwhelmed by the novelty of it all-her closeness, the way her fingers curled into his robe, pulling him nearer. Slowly, he parted his lips, responding with a hunger that he had buried deep, his hands finding her waist, drawing her body flush against his.

Nickolai's lips crashed against Irene's with a fervor that bordered on desperation, his mouth claiming hers in a heated frenzy.

"Mmmph-"

He had nipped at her lower lip, drawing a soft whimper from her throat as their tongues tangled, tasting the salt of sweat and the sweetness of shared breath.

The intensity of his kisses overwhelmed her, pulling a trembling sound from deep within, and he froze, pulling back just enough to rest his forehead against hers. His eyes searched her face, shadowed with concern.

"Can-can you hear me?" Nickolai try to talk to her.

He remembers how the physician told them of her condition but for her to suddenly-

Feeling confused, he wanted to know if she's realised what is going on.

Still, Irene didn't respond. Her eyes look empty, shallow and vague. Looking completely soulless.

But before he could say anything again, Irene surged forward, capturing his mouth in a fierce kiss of her own. Her fingers slipped inside the open folds of his sleep robe, brushing against the warm, taut skin of his chest.

The contact sent a shiver racing through him, his muscles tensing under her touch.

Clarity flickered in his mind-he knew she wasn't fully herself, lost in whatever haze gripped her-and he caught her wrist, halting her exploration.

"Wa-wait," he said, trying to infuse reason into his words, his breath ragged. "This isn't-let's stop..."

She ignored him, pressing closer, her lips insistent on his. Her legs parted as she shifted, straddling his lap, the thin fabric of her gown riding up her thighs.

He gripped her hips to steady her, heart pounding with the fear she'd topple off the bed in her fervor.

Irene ground her body against his, the friction of her curves molding to his hardening form igniting a groan from his chest.

"Ugh-"

He knew he should stop this, push her away for her own sake, but her bold advances eroded his resolve, each sway of her hips chipping away at his control.

In the heat of their kiss, he breathed her name.

"Irene," a soft plea that briefly jolted her, though he didn't notice, too consumed by the fire building between them.

She drew back slightly, their foreheads touching, noses brushing in the scant space between. Their breaths came in heavy pants, mingling in the dim glow of the bedside lamp.

With deliberate slowness, her hands parted the robe fully, exposing the broad expanse of his sturdy chest, muscles rippling under her gaze.

Leaving the rest of him lay bare vulnerable to her touch.

Her fingers trailed over his skin, mapping the ridges of his abs, the firm planes of his pectorals.

Nickolai shuddered, a low sound escaping him as passion clouded his thoughts.
