- Willow activated her mutant genes when she was eight years old. She had decided to go river rafting with some of her neighbors that her was family was close to. It resulted in her nearly drowning after she fell out of the raft. All the panic and fear that Willow felt in that moment caused her gene to activate.
- As Willow grew up, Chari Bishop and Wade Wilson could never really agree on anything when it came to their daughter. Chari didn't want Wade involved in Willow's life in the slightest regard. The mother often feared all the bagged and enemies that the mercenary would bring if he was even slightly involved with her life. Meanwhile, Wade did want to involved in her life, to some extent. He, admittedly, wasn't ready to raise a kid by him, but he did want to be apart of her life. For while, Chari begrudgingly let Wade be apart her life but at arms length. He could see her on holidays, certain occasions and even school breaks. But, at the end of the day, it was ultimately never anything serious. When Willow's mutant genes activated, Chari decided to ultimately cut all connect with Wade. Chari feared that Wade would be anti mutant and with Chari having a past of growing up in a heavy anti mutant/dare even say dangerously hateful state, she didn't want to take that risk with Willow and with already having cards stacked against him it was an easy decision for Chari.
