Here's the official character / world building notes on Paris Castellan and her fic !
- She is directly named after the male mythological figure, Paris, in the story of the Trojan War. The figure, Paris, appears in numerous Greek legends and works of Ancient Greek literature such as the Iliad. In myth, he is prince of Troy, son of King Priam and Queen Hecuba, and younger brother of Prince Hector. Just before his birth, his mother dreamed that she gave birth to a flaming torch. His elopement with Helen sparks the Trojan War, during which he fatally wounds Achilles. After he had treacherously slain Achilles, he himself was fatally wounded by an arrow of Heracles, while in single combat with Philoctetes.- Paris's and her namesake have so much in common that she absolutely hates it. In Paris's myth, his mother - before his birth - dreamed that she gave birth to a flaming torch. This dream was interpreted by the seer Aesacus as a foretelling of the downfall of Troy, and he declared that the child would be the ruin of his homeland. This aspect of the myth is reflective of the big prophecy that she and her twin brother were inevitably apart of. The same prophecy that foretold them begin the destruction of Olympus. Additionally, Paris also had a hand in helping Luke sacrifice himself by helping stable/holding her twin's hand as they both essentially stabbed him in his achilles spot on his body, something that almost mimics Paris killing Achilles himself.
- She never really had any fantastical dreams of grandeur. She just never had her own wishes for some big future due to the harsh reality that had spent her early life living in. Thinking about anything other than merely surviving felt absolutely stupid to her. Even now, dreaming of what ifs and planning for something down the line is just not a thing she's capable of doing. It feel ridiculous and wasteful to her.
- Paris only became the goddess of time and reality because the gods wanted a god to watch over they're father's realm to prevent him from messing with time and reality. And to help deter other demigods from trying to work with Kronos again. Paris seemed perfect for the roll because she understood the actual price of sacrifice better than anyone and was the only demigod with the utmost reason to spite the titan.
- She ultimately feels like she has no place to call home. Her mother is, well, a very tragic and complicated situation. And camp doesn't feel like home after all that's gone down with Luke's betrayal and the whole few years of fighting, than there's whole fact of Luke begin long dead now. Olympus will never be her home. So, Paris, for the most part, feels like such a weird outsider and drifter.
- Paris and Hermes may never know reconciliation due to inherent situation they find themselves in. Paris feels a lot of resentment toward Hermes, blaming him for Luke's discontent and eventual betrayal. She sees Hermes as a distant and neglectful father, who failed to guide Luke properly, leading to the pain and conflict that ensued. This often leads to her challenging him directly, questioning his decisions and his role as a father. This tension often leads to heated exchanges, where Paris expresses her anger and frustration. Paris feelings towards her father are very volatile due to Luke's death deeply effecting her and just everything with her mother in a general sense. Paris could give less of crap about his treatment of herself, but gives every ounce of care into the treatment of her siblings and her mother. In a lot of ways, Hermes has deeply failed her at every chance imaginable.
- Paris and Thalia's relationship is not what it used to be when they were younger. Paris and Thalia used to have a very close relationship; when they were younger, they were like two peas in pods with how much they got along. The duo used to say they were each other's sister; Paris even used to joke that Luke need to just ask Thalia out so that they could be future sister in laws. But, now days, they both tend to clash with one another due to their strong personalities and due to how life has drastically change. Paris and Thalia are both stubborn as all hell, which often leads to many conflicts, especially when their goals and methods differ drastically. Paris is also more volatile these days after experiencing so many people's deaths and struggling for so many years under the weight of everything going on with her twin brother, whilst Thalis has been blossoming in her own way within Artemis's group of huntresses. So, Paris and Thalia feel closer to that of mere strangers, than that of adopted sisters. A once beautiful friendship is now eroding with time.
- A physical manifestation of Paris's domain exists and only she's supposed to be able to get to it. The domain realm is a train station that has many different trains that lead to different timelines. And they can back or ahead in time, if Paris so desires.
- Paris has always been this figure with an anchoring force with so much love and support for everyone around her; yet, she rarely ever had her own anchoring force and rare received that same level of suppor. Which isn't inherently the fault of others, but rather just the sad truth of the whole matter. It's for this reason that Paris has stopped trying to fix her feelings towards camp half blood. She's grown so tired of begin the person that gives and gives till there is just nothing left of her and she's left feeling like an empty shell.
- Paris tends to spend her time wondering her domain more than anything else. She tends to isolate herself from everyone else. It's a sort of traumatic response to everything. If she's not close to anyone, than she has no one to loose or someone that could hurt her.
