Allergies

Charlotte was helping get the children fed for lunch while Carly had stepped out momentarily. They were a peanut free facility however the parents never seemed to actually listen. Typically Charlotte was very good at spotting foods she couldn't make contact with however today was very different. As she finished handing out a snack that had been dropped off she went to sit down and eat her lunch. She was extra tired today from her late night FaceTime with Mia, she missed her so much and spent every moment she could with the red head.

Her hands made their way to her face where she rubbed bother her eyes before looking down at her lunch. All the sudden she didn't feel right, her chest felt like it was tightening, her eyes swelling up and what looked like hives coming over her hands. Her breathing became harder as she tried to stand to go to Carly.

"Char?! Oh my god what's wrong?!" Carly squealed. "Epi... pen..." is all Charlotte said. "Char go it's in the office!" Carly yelled as Charlotte all but ran into the office. When she opened it, she saw autumn, Reece, and Marjorie look at her with their eyes wide.

"Oh god Charlotte!" Marjorie yelled before immediately running to the cabinet to get her epi pen. Reece and autumn got her seated before Marjorie ran over and stuck the pen in her leg.

"10... 9... 8... 7..." Marjorie started counting as my breathing slowly became easier. "6.. 5.. 4.." the swelling seemed to ease slightly as I looked up at Reece who looked terrified. "3... 2... 1..." Marjorie said before taking the pen out and disposing of it properly.

All three of them hovered around me while autumn called emergency services to come get me. "Charlotte how are you feeling?" Reece asked as he got down to my level. "Very tired, I just wish Mia was here." I said my eyes starting to tear up. Marjorie handed me a disinfectant wipe to wipe my hands clean of any peanut residue.

I watched as Reece stepped outside the office not really thinking anything of it.

"Hey reecey." Mia said on the end of the line, Reece rolled his eyes, he was happy that he and Mia were trying to form a friendship again. "Mia you need to come home, Charlotte has just had a pretty bad allergic reaction and she's asking for you." Reece said getting straight to it. "Wait what?! Is she ok? She's only allergy to peanuts and the nursery is nut free what happened?!" Mia said panicked Reece could hear her shit case zip and unzip as she frantically packed.

Reece loved seeing this side of Mia, how much she truly loved and cared for Charlotte. "She's ok right now, Marjorie gave her the epi pen, emergency services are on the way to take her to the hospital just to check over her, then we're going to take her home to rest. We aren't sure what happened yet but we're going to find out." I said trying to calm the red head down. "I'm in my way." She said before hanging up.

When emergency services arrived they got Charlotte all set up in the ambulance. "Marjorie can you come with me?" Charlotte asked nervously. Marjorie immediately hopped up and took her friends hand. While at the hospital Marjorie and Charlotte just talked about their relationships and upcoming holidays that they had planned. Marjorie did her best to keep her friend distracted.

A few hours later Charlotte was laid down on her couch and wrapped in a blanket. "Alright my love do you need anything else before we go?" Marjorie said looking at her tired friend. "No, thank you both for all you've done today." Charlotte said before drifting off to sleep. The couple left the brunette to catch up on some sleep knowing Mia would be back to watch over her soon.

2 hours go by before Charlotte is woken up to the sounds of keys in the door, she sits up slightly confused before her red headed girlfriend runs in and wraps her arms around her tightly. "Sweetheart are you alright?!" Mia asks pulling away slightly and cupping charlottes face. "Mia what are you doing here?" She asked confused. "Reecey called and told me about your allergic reaction, I came as fast as I could." The red head responded in a worried tone. "I'm alright Mia I'm just very tired will you hold me?" Charlotte asked. Mia jumped up and laid behind Charlotte on the couch holding her close and kissing the top of her head.

They fell asleep on the couch that night holding eachother tightly worried that if they let go the other would disappear. The next morning Charlotte woke up alone on the couch. She got sad thinking she only dreamt Mia showing up the day before. Then all the sudden her nose caught a wiff of something. She stood slowly and made her way to the kitchen to see her red head making breakfast.

She slowly walked up behind her and wrapped her tightly in her arms. "Good morning love" Charlotte said with a huge grin. "Good morning sleeping head!" Mia said turning around and wrapping her tightly in her embrace. "How are you feeling?" She asked her tone still slightly worried. "Mia breathe, I'm ok. So much better with you here. I'm hungry and all of this smells so amazing." With that response Mia grinned happily before handing her girlfriend a cup of coffee.

Charlotte sat at the island waiting for her food and her girlfriend. They sat together eating and Charlotte listened as Mia told her all about her most recent trip. Charlotte smiled and got lost in a trance as she listened to Mia.

Once Mia and Charlotte had arrived at work Mia got out to walk charlotte inside. She decided to stay for a few days and catch up on lost time with her lover. "Mia seriously, it's ok please don't make a scene." Charlotte said. She knew she shouldn't have told her what happened but now it was too late and she knew Mia was about to go off on a parent.

"Me? Make a scene? Sweetheart I would never." Mia said with a wink and a smirk as they walked in hand in hand.
