The door opened. Charlie casually walked in with the rifle pointing at her head. I swear, sometimes I just didn't get her. How could she be that calm? A shiver trickled through my spine by just looking at the gun at her head.

The guard opened the cell and waited for Charlie to step in. I watched her come in, staring at the grey trousers which hung right above her ankles. I looked up, watching the drawstrings oscillate in front of her waist as she walked in. She walked to her spot and sat down with her arm in her hand. I looked at the guard who locked our cell door then turned around to depart.

"You took long." I looked back at Charlie, hugging my knees and tucking my chin in them.

"Yeah." Charlie looked at the door, watching the guard completely leave. "I got something," her tone lightened slightly, revealing excitement.

"Got something?" I cocked an eyebrow.

"Just maybe. I feel like..." She pushed her hair back behind her ear. "We might have a chance to get out of here."

"What?" I looked at her, raising my head from my knees.

"Didn't you notice? There's a vent just above the toilet." Charlie began explaining, pointing her right index finger up in the air. "Maybe we can escape from there?"

"Wait, really?" I beamed in hope.

"Yeah."

"Wait." I dropped the smile. "Why would Seliel leave such a big opening for us to find?"

"Yeah. You're right. I thought about that too actually." Charlie tilted her head, lowering her raised hand to her wounded one. "But then, why would she want us to find it?"

Thoughts began rearranging themselves into a great mind map in my head. It started to make sense. No, actually, there was no pattern with the whole kidnapping and Seliel holding us hostage but Charlie's point made sense. Why would she want us to find it? What was she going to do differently if she caught us escaping? It was all going to be the same. We would still be there.

"You're right. What if she doesn't know about this herself?" I looked up at Charlie, finishing my thinking. "I bet she doesn't own this place."

Charlie nodded, sighing.

"We just have to keep this excitement on the low." She looked up to her right, staring right into the camera outside the cell, in the corner of the wall. "Not to mention enacting the escape. We're gonna have to plan stuff carefully because we can't be in the washroom together. If one of us gets out. That's it."

I looked at her, beginning to fear whatever plan we were going to make. I was actually scared. What if she escaped and left me behind? That wouldn't make sense though. Otherwise why did she tell me about something she could have used to her own advantage? But what if I got out, but Charlie got tortured as a punishment for my escape? I really badly wanted to leave that dark place but I didn't think I would be able to leave alone without her. Let alone live with the guilt of betraying her once I would be out. It would be the same if it was anyone else in her place, even if they didn't save me. I couldn't just leave another person there, especially not if I owed them. Even if we got a way to escape together, what if we died in the process?

Maybe.

I didn't know.

I hoped not.

I just didn't want anything to go wrong if we were going to do it.
