I had lost track of the exact time, but I knew it was probably our second or third day. I couldn't even tell if it was day or night anymore but regardless, I was so sleepy. My eyes were shutting as I hid my face in my arms over my knees. I couldn't get my mind to sleep. I kept staring at the door praying Morro never came again. I didn't know what I was going to do if he did.
I told Cole it wasn't much of a big deal, and yes, of course my heart could compensate for all the blood I lost within a short while but it did hurt. He was right when he said my muscles would be aching. They were. They were killing me. I was feeling pulsing pain in my legs, arms and shoulders. The cold wasn't making it any better. I kept snuggling into my arm again and again not only because it was cold, but because I was hiding my tears that kept slipping out of my eyes beyond my control. My heart was beating so fast, I could hear its vibration ripple through every organ in my body. Just breathing was hard to do and it was difficult to control my breath just to act in front of Cole. I didn't want him to stress about his turn by looking at me. I knew I was a symbol of hope for him.
But also, I didn't want to look weak and stupid in front of the man I saved. He seemed like he was slowly growing fond of me.
I liked it.
Even if it was just as friends.
I didn't realize how much I fancied his presence before returning here from Morro. It was the perfect thing to cheer me up in such a depressing environment. It was just like Cole said; I wanted Morro to die even only after just one encounter. I didn't want to go with him again. But hey, maybe it wasn't going to be as bad as it seemed once I got used to it.
Hours had passed and Cole was asleep. I stared at him as he rested his head back against the wall, his mouth open. I smiled to myself at how funny he looked just before he woke up, his head losing balance and almost tipping to his left. I looked away, shivering again.
He blinked a few times, murmuring under his breath.
"I swear you can't even sleep without falling even though you're sitting." He rubbed his eyes, looking at me smile as I shivered.
"Are you cold? I seriously don't have anything else to give you, Charlie. Sorry." Cole looked around, hugging himself. He was probably feeling cold too being shirtless in a metal and concrete room.
"No, I'm not cold. I'm hungry," I clarified, my shoulders still shaking.
"Oh." Cole stopped hugging himself. "Well I don't think we're getting any food any time soon." He made a straight face which quickly turned to a smirk. "Only edible things here are you and I."
I goggled at him.
"Edible?" I questioned.
"Come on, I taste nice," he said.
I didn't doubt that.
"So, if you want, you can have my body." He raised his hand in front of him. "Take a bite."
"Ew. I am not going to eat your hand. Who knows where it's been."
"What?" Cole dropped his hand between his bent knees. "You see me twenty four seven. You know where my hand's been." He cocked a brow.
"Not eating your hand," I argued.
"Fine. Where else would you take a bite from then?" He opened his arms, smirking.
