I had just passed by Seliel, who faced her back towards my direction. She stood really far from me, not to mention the few dozen people moving between us. She talked to someone standing ahead of her. I looked ahead of me after seeing his navy blue hair styled in a taper fade cut. Even from afar, I could clearly remember seeing black tops in both his earlobes and his collar standing by his neck as he wore a black half sleeved buttoned shirt on his bare body. It was disappointing to see Seliel hangout with such men.

But who cared? She wasn't mine anymore. She wasn't my responsibility anymore. I didn't have to protect her. She didn't deserve it anyway. Whatever.

I blended myself into the crowd, trying to push through them as they danced and sang to the loud music.

Boom, boom, boom-boom.

I listened to the bass, my heart pounding faster the closer I got towards the wall opposite to the room I walked out from.

Charlie. Where was she? I hadn't seen her since she left the cell. I didn't even know what she would have been wearing. It was likely that they had given her something black too. And finding a specific someone wearing black in that place was hard. Very hard.

I ducked, dodging a man swinging his arms around, a transparent glass in his left hand. I clicked my tongue, sliding my boot on the floor. I was almost there. I was almost at the exit but I hadn't caught a glimpse of Charlie at all. I kept my eyes peeled, blinking them after long intervals.

Was I too late?

I clenched the gun in my hand.

What if one of them had caught her?

Was she okay?

I imagined her bruised and swollen body, dirty thoughts filling my head with what they could do to her.

I licked my upper palate, wetting my drying throat. I convulsed my brows, feeling tense about losing her. My grip on the weapon got tighter. I hated using it, but I was ready to shoot everyone in that room if I had to just to find my lady.

People screamed, throwing their hands in the air. I turned around, my eyes hurting from the intense staring. My orbs scanned every person that resembled Charlie's build; short hair, average height... Anything. I looked left and right, hoping to find her.

I exhaled a breath of fear, looking in front again. I finally saw her face. She had the same short hair hanging over her bare shoulders. She turned her head to her right, her nose shining in the lights. I was confident that it was the same cute, little nose that was tucked in my chest for days when we were in the cell. Her height was exactly how I remembered it too.

"Charlie–" I whispered her name to myself, freezing in the direction I spotted her.

People from all around kept pushing and shoving me. I ignored all the distractions, reaching my hand towards her, trying to grab her fingers while she faced her back towards me, walking towards the door as well.

Boom, boom-boom-boom.

I squinted. I shook my head at the loud music, envisioning Charlie walking further away from me.

It felt like a dream. I blinked confusingly, seeing the back of her head. The people's arms and shoulders kept wavering in front of my vision while I dazed. Everything was so loud and perplexing.
