"He won't believe it," I mumbled.
"Make him," she said.
I exchanged looks between Seliel and Charlie. There was no way I could call for help anymore. It wasn't like I stood a chance since the start anyway.
I stood up and grabbed the phone from Seliel's grasp. I looked at her, my phone still ringing.
"On speaker."
I did as she said. I picked up the call.
"Hello?"
"Cole! Where were you? I have been calling you for ten whole minutes! Nonstop!" I pulled the phone away from me. I was already on speaker and Lloyd's yelling only made it worse.
"Where are you? Your mom called me, telling me you weren't in your room and then you go on and don't pick up calls from anyone for the next hour? Where did you go?"
My eyes drifted towards Seliel. I felt a bit nervous.
"Sorry," I spoke softly.
It was silent.
"My phone was on silent."
"Okay. But, where are you?"
"I-I just needed some time alone." I looked at my right toes, tracing my open leg to my left crossed one.
It was quiet again.
"Oh," he replied, his voice calmer now. "Are you alright?"
"Yeah." I paused, looking up at Charlie, then at Seliel. "I-I'm good."
"When are you coming back?"
I sighed. I looked at the wall to my left, then back towards the phone, anxious.
"I-I'll come when I feel like it."
"Okay," he said.
"Yeah," I replied.
"Cole?" he asked.
"Yeah?"
"Don't do anything stupid, okay?"
I chuckled, looking up at Seliel. Who did he think I was? A suicidal weirdo over a bitch like Seliel?
"Yeah, don't worry," I said. It wasn't in my hands to live or die anyway.
"Okay."
There was silence once more.
"Look after yourself, Cole. Bye."
I smiled a little bit. I guess I was relieved by his care and affection. It was exactly what I needed at the moment.
"Bye," I said.
He hung up.
I looked at my phone then up at Seliel.
"Good."
I looked at the girl as Seliel snatched the phone out of my hand. The guard opened the door again and pushed the girl in like an animal. Her leg was already fragile because of the wound so it wasn't ideal for her either. She winced and fell forward, crashing to the ground. I flinched towards Charlie as if to help her.
She pushed herself off of the ground, hissing at the fresh scrape on her left elbow. The guard completely ignored her pain, about to shut the cell door on Charlie's foot. She instantly pulled her legs to her chest.
