It was dark. They had turned the lights off days ago and never returned to turn them back on.
I kept my eyes wide open, staring at Charlie in hope that she would wake up soon. It had been five days since she returned, yet she hadn't opened her eyes even for a second. I had checked her heart beat every hour to make sure she was alive.
I leaned my head back against the wall, holding my hands which were propped over my bent knees. I looked at my savior, seeing her lay still in the exact same position I had left her when I finished bandaging her.
I was getting anxious. I was nervous.
Scared.
Scared to lose her.
I stayed silent, feeling my left eye twitch periodically.
My head felt woozy. It was heavy. It felt like I'd drop in the direction it weighed me in. My skin itched. It swelled. It fucking hurt. The pain hadn't poked me until I silently sat in the dark for hours, sensing nothing but the sensations of someone raking my skin. The last I saw myself, there were crimson coloured patches, drying dead skin cells and swollen areas. Places where my bones were more prominent were completely bleeding, like my knuckles and collar bone.
I was in pain. Dehydrated. Sleepy. Tired. Weak.
I sighed, disappointed that showing my abs was a waste since they were covered in blood most of the time. Charlie couldn't see them clearly.
I smiled, looking ahead of me while leaning my head all the way back against the wall.
It had been five days. Five fucking days.
I inhaled, staring ahead of me lifelessly.
No one came for the past five days. At least I hadn't seen anyone come in. There was a bottle of water placed near the bars when I woke up in the middle of it all at some point. But I hadn't seen light for that long. The lights of the lobby were also shut, making it completely blinding in there.
I exhaled, my left eye twitching again.
I listened to the silence, suddenly beginning to hear a ringing in my left ear. I widened my tiring eyes in the dark, trying to look past the choking silence.
"Fucking hell." I scoffed, zoned out at the wall Charlie sat against. "Wake up, Charlie." I inhaled softly.
It was silent.
There was no response.
No noise.
No sound.
I chuckled, shutting my eyes.
"Fucking wake up!" I yelled, dropping my arms next to me from my knees.
I stood up shaking immensely. I leaned my weight on the wall behind me to get up. The rough wall behind me scratched the dry skin on my back, relieving me of the itch. I clenched my left hand on the bars, turning my body towards it to grab it with my other hand too.
I screamed.
I screamed, shaking the bars vigorously.
I let go, punching my right fist on the metal. I yelled again.
I was going to go insane. Alone, in the dark, in the silence. I couldn't sleep. I couldn't think. I couldn't see anyone. I couldn't hear anything.
