It had been so long. I didn't have a clock or watch but I just knew it had been way too long. What was she doing? She never took that long in the vents. Was she even in the vents? What if she got caught? What if 003 did something to her? He left Charlie inside and walked out a few seconds ago. Not sure why. But what about Charlie? What if Seliel saw Charlie through the vents? I gasped internally. What if Morro– I interrupted my own thoughts, shutting my eyes. He better not have laid a hand on her.

I clasped my hands in front of my face, looking down as I hung my arms on my knees. It felt like a very unsatisfying guilt was stopping my heart from beating in my chest. It felt like a clot. The longer we stayed in that unknown place, the stronger this guilt became. Because, ever passing second, my bonding with Charlie grew and the fear of losing her increased. It was less scary when I thought I was alone with a stranger because then I only had to carry my own burden and worry for myself but at that moment, even if I didn't want to, I was worried for Charlie too. I just wanted to get out. With her.

Please just come back, Charlie.

Creak.

The door opened. I opened my eyes, briskly turning my head to my left.

Click, click, click...

My eyes widened, hearing the sound of heels. It was a shame, but I knew the sound of that walk way too well. It was Seliel.

I gaped, wrapping my left hand around the first bar of the cell as I stared at her slowly walking into my view. I looked at her, my eyes scanning her from her white heels up to her flawless legs then to her short, light gray skirt, her white tank top tucked into it. I looked into her blue eyes before the girl next to her caught my attention. I looked at the girl, ignoring the icy orbs I once thought I'd never get over. I looked at Charlie.

Charlie looked at me.

I lowered my brows, concerned why there was blood seeping over her nose. She clearly had been slapped too. It was obvious by the crimson coloured patch on her cheek.

"Charlie," I mumbled.

The clotting feeling in me grew big enough for my heart to stop for a second. I swallowed my saliva, trying to swallow the feeling too.

She got caught, didn't she?

What did they do to her? Why'd she look like that? Why was she crying?

"Wh-what d-did y-you do t-o h-her?" I painfully gulped, realizing how strong my stutter had gotten.

"A-Aww y-your s-s-s-so c-cute." Seliel mocked me, poking the gun deeper into Charlie.

I looked at Charlie in a scared way. Seliel was unpredictable. I didn't know why she kept me here but I knew I was part of the reason. She could easily kill Charlie if she wanted to especially if she wasn't part of whatever her inducement was. I didn't want the trigger to be pulled on her because of me.

Charlie looked at me, giving me a little smile. It was the tiniest smile I had ever seen. Even so, every muscle in my body relaxed, even if it was for a second.

I looked back at Seliel as she slipped her right hand in her pocket, pulling out a bunch of silver keys. She looked at me, putting one of the dozen keys in her mouth then holding it between her thumb and index finger. I stared at the two black fringes dangling next to her face, the rest of her golden hair open up behind her. She inserted the key, turning the lock. I pulled my hand back to myself, watching her gently slide open the cell door. I leaned away from her, touching my palms and fingers flat on the ground on both my sides.
