It had been just three moons after the wedding when Daena had begun to miss her monthly courses. Still a girl of three and ten, it frightened Daena. She knew what it meant and she knew she was even younger than her mother when she fell pregnant with her. It ended up killing her.

A part of her had felt as though if she just ignored it, it would go away. It wasn't how that worked though. And she slowly began to realize it as her belly grew more and more.

There had been a knock on her door one morning. She had just returned from Aegon's chambers and Aemond had already left to train with Ser Criston, leaving her alone and in peace for a short while.

Daemion hadn't returned from Dragonstone yet but Daena knew the boy could only stay away for so long. The man seemed happier in the capital. He always returned in a pissy mood after leaving Dragonstone.

He always said the same thing to Daena. They all treat me like a child, all four of them. They don't trust me.

Daena knew the boy was just jealous of Rhaegon, feeling as though the man took his spot back as 'mama's boy'. He had Shaera's undivided attention his entire childhood and now he had to share it with a man who happened to be his brother yet was a stranger to him. Not that Rhaegon attempted to mend the bond.

The door was opened by Ser Erryk, who was stationed outside her chambers. He had been appointed her sworn protector after her marriage to Aemond, given she was now the wife of one of the King's sons.

She turned to see her visitor Alicent, who had a calm look on her face. The woman had rarely spoken to her recently, a part of her seeming disappointed by Daena's contentment in her marriage.

"It has been two moons since your last blood," Alicent reminded her, causing Daena's eyes to widen in horror.

"How do you know that?" The girl asked in disgust and turned to face the woman.

"It is my duty to know such things," Alicent answered sternly and moved toward Daena, "As is your duty to provide my son children, which you have now proven yourself able. A part of me worried that the two of you would refuse to perform the act. I suppose I was misled."

Daena nodded at the queen, forcing herself to hide her smirk. "Aemond and I understood what was expected of us. Although it wasn't enjoyable for either of us, we did what had to be done," She explained, playing the Queen like a fiddle.

"It rarely is enjoyable," Alicent informed the girl, trying to comfort her. She squeezed the girl's arm in comfort, taking a seat beside her.

Daena tried to contain herself at the woman's words. She knew it was Alicent projecting her own experiences onto her. A part of her pitied the woman. The other part found it to be a perfect opportunity to taunt the queen. She chose the latter, of course.
