Tanya's POV.

These cramps weren't getting any better, during lunch time at school, I was feeling like I might die any second.

I couldn't concentrate on anything.

My mind was too focused on the pain and discomfort I was feeling.

Every movement sent a wave of nausea through me, and I felt so damn weak.

Miriam and Claire both looked concerned.

"Girl.. you should've skipped school.."

Claire shook her head.

I managed a weak smile at them.

"I'll be fine," I said, even though I didn't really believe it myself.

Miriam frowned at me, looking as if she was ready to argue.

"No, no, seriously," I quickly continued, not wanting them to fuss over my pain.

"It's just a bit of a stomach ache. I'll survive."

Derrick then showed up, sitting next to me.

"Tanya, hunn!!" He said cheerfully.

I winced at his voice, the volume making my head throb.

"Hey, Derrick..." I mumbled, trying to sound normal.

He looked at me, and his cheerful expression quickly turned into one of concern.

"Woah, you don't look so good," He said, leaning in closer to me. "Are you alright?"

I let out a sigh, my hand cradling my stomach.

"Just period cramps," I muttered, my voice strained. Understatement.

"Awww, poor baby.." He softly said.

He leaned in to give me a kiss on the forehead.

Usually, I would have rolled my eyes and told him to stop being such a mother hen, but right now, I don't even have the energy.

I just leaned my head against his chest, seeking some comfort.

His arms immediately wrapped around me, pulling me closer to him.

He was being surprisingly gentle, with no comments about wanting a kiss or anything like that.

I guess even he could tell I wasn't feeling great.

"You're warm.." He mumbled into my hair.

He brought his hand up to my forehead, checking my temperature.

"You're burning up."

I groaned at his words.

"Great.. I probably have a fever now, too," I muttered.

Just my luck—period cramps were bad enough, but now I have a fever as well.

Slowly, my eyes made their way to.. the table close by.

. . .

Darren and Anika.

Darren was sitting with her, talking to her.

Anika was giggling at something he said, leaning in a bit closer to him.

I had to fight the urge to roll my eyes.

She was so damn fake.

She was being way more flirty with him than usual..

Probably just to get a reaction out of the school girls that seemingly had a crush on him.
