Amelia brows were furrowed as she inspected the newest potion. The liquid held a tinge red within a sea of silver colour. It looked like it was done correctly, but she inspected it thoroughly to be sure. And she also wanted to develop an antibody to prevent Astoria from being poisoned.
That may cause a big delay, but she would imagine a bezoar-based potion would do the trick. The bezoar alone is enough to save one from most poisons. But this brew is quite unlike any she has seen. It's better to be cautious.
"And? What do you think?" Daphne asked softly, trying not to disrupt Amelia's concentration.
"Yes, well, I think it is a success," said Amelia. "But, I can't tell to how effective it will be. Still, I first need to do more testing and develop a counter serum. There is the possibility that the amount of the ingredients could have toxic side effect. So, just give me a week to brew that, and we can... well, do a trial run...?"
"Right. Sounds good. And when it is time, I'll drink it," said Daphne without hesitation. "It's for my sister. I'm sure I'll react similarly to her."
"You two are crazy. Brewing potions and testing them on yourselves? A recipe for disaster if you ask me," said Pansy, glancing their way as she was preparing for the free day. One hand held makeup, while the other held her wand that emitted a soft light.
Amelia doesn't think Pansy needed it. She was beautiful in her own natural way, which Amelia appreciated much more in women. But, she can't deny Pansy is skilled with make up.
"It is worth the risk," said Daphne. "Besides, I'll do what I must and I trust in Amelia's abilities."
"I appreciate your trust, but we need to be careful, Daphne. It usually takes a group of wizards and witches to develop these correctly, with a few exceptional talented brewers," said Amelia, leaning against the against the comfy back of her chair. "Yes, you think I am the new Zygmunt Budge-"
"Who?" Asked Pansy.
"The creator of Liquid Luck- Felix Felicis- brilliant alchemist! Fascinating career he had. Anyway, I think we have something, but it just may need some tweaking. I'm just trying to be realistic here."
"I know, I know," sighed Daphne. "Well, I guess we have a free day to do with as we wish. I don't know about you, but I will not touch any study books or well-written summaries. We deserve a break."
"Hear, hear," Pansy added while applying eyeliner.
"Going to find George, I assume?" said Amelia.
"Yup, asked him to meet me at the Great Hall."
"Well, have fun."
Daphne said her farewell to them and went out to meet with George. Amelia let a breath leave her, storing the potion away for save keeping. She was hopeful it will do the trick, or at least a big step forward.
"Are you going to meet with Granger or shall we do something together, Amelia?"
"She is busy," Amelia said through a deep, saddened sigh. "I guess Hermione is trying to help the two boys with their homework. She is the reason they're succeeding after all."
"Harry doesn't seem like an idiot," Pansy comments while putting away her make up. "Has at least brains while Ron is... well, coping."
"Haha, I suppose his academic prowess is far from visible," laughed Amelia. "But he ain't dumb. He's an excellent chess player. Better than Hermione."
"Really? Perhaps there are more brains in that skull than I believed. In any case, we can do something together, if you wish. I got nothing else going on."
