Ch. 52: DNA Test

It's been a couple of weeks since the whole prison found out about Ann being Kimberly's biological mother and it's making everybody on edge especially the screws, in the Governor's office Ann, Officer Jackson, The Governor Vera, Kaz and Marie are in there

'Zaina and Tina said that their units are not going to do anything about it' Vera says, she looks at Kaz

'Nope, either my unit and Lou's unit' Kaz says

Ann looks at Marie and sees that she's thinking about something

'What are you thinking about over there Winter?' Ann asks, everybody looks at Marie

'I think the reason why they are not doing anything is because they don't believe it' Marie says

'But it's on Kimberly's file' Officer Jackson says

'Yes but someone could have easily typed that up and put it on there' Marie says

'And they know what happens when they hear rumors about any one of us and then they start a riot' Vera says

'Especially when the rumors are not true they get punished, this time they want to make sure it's true before they do anything' Ann says

'And another reason is that they need real evidence of you being her biological mother' Marie says

'Like a DNA test from the both of you guys' Kaz says

'Yeah but we need consent from Kimberly but we can't do that because of the state of mind that she's in even though she can talk to us' Vera says

'Not necessarily' Marie says, everybody looks at her

'What do you mean?' Ann asks

'If we get some blood work from you with your consent of course and get a warrant to get some from the police' Marie says

'That could actually work' Vera says

'Are you sure that the inmates won't do anything to Ann today?' Officer Jackson asks

'Just a bunch of stares is all, I hope' Kaz says

'Sorry why did you come here today for again?' Vera asks Ann

'Oh right, to see everything is up to code' Ann says

'Well the sooner we get this over with the better' Vera says, she gets up and they leave

'That's what she said' Marie whispers

Marie chuckles, Kaz looks at her, like now is not the time to make jokes, Marie leaves first then Kaz follows her

At the prison like Kaz said just a bunch of stares from the inmates and nobody has moved a muscle to attack Ann yet as she makes her rounds of the prison, Kaz is in her cell reading on her bed and then Marie stands in the doorway, Kaz looks up at her

'Whatever outcome is I'll take responsibility for it' Marie says, Kaz takes her glasses off and sits up

'Shut the door and sit down please' Kaz says, Marie does as she's told to do

'I don't blame you for wanting to know what happened to Kimberly or telling the others, if we kept that as a secret and it got some how things would be a lot worse, I'm glad that we took this path instead, if you do take responsibility for this I don't think that Ann will push you because you are literally saving her ass right now from this being a lot worse' Kaz says

'Well I'm more worried about making you mad than whatever is going to happen next because I know that I talk before I think and that gets me into trouble a lot' Marie says, Kaz smiles

'Well I know the history between you and Ann, that's also another reason why I'm not mad you because like I said earlier this was going to get out at some point, rather if it was going to be you or someone else' Kaz says

'Even if this is true, I don't think the others will do anything about it' Marie says

'What makes you say that for?' Kaz asks

'They can't get to her physically and what is a riot going to do probably cause more problems just for them because of how much they depend on their tops dogs because without you guys how will we function if we need something bigger from you guys' Marie says

'That's a good point too, and plus some of them are getting out soon and they don't want something like that mess things up for themselves' Kaz says

'There's a lot of possibilities that could happen so let's just see what the others do after the DNA test happens' Marie says

'Hopefully nothing' Kaz says

'Another thing too, I don't know why but for some reason I don't believe that Ann is Kimberly's biological mother' Marie says, Kaz looks at her confused

'But I do believe that there's some kind of relation to Kimberly' Marie says

'That would be freaky if that came out to be true' Kaz says

'Yeah, it could be a long shot too' Marie says, there's a knock on the door

'Yeah!' Kaz says, the door opens and Mr. Jackson walks in the doorway

'Sorry to interrupt but the warrant is in full effect so we should get something here pretty soon from the police' Mr. Jackson says

'Ok, thanks for letting us know' Kaz says

'No problem' Mr. Jackson says, he smiles and leaves

'Now it's the waiting game' Kaz says, as she goes back to reading and Marie lays down beside Kaz

Later that day the results are in for Kimberly and Ann, in the Governor's office Vera reads the results

'Huh that's odd' Vera says

'What is it?' Ann asks

'Do you have a sister or brother?' Vera asks, she looks at Ann

'Oh my dear God' Ann says, she sits down in the chair

'What is it Governor?' Officer Jackson asks

'Ann isn't Kimberly's biological mother, she's Kimberly's aunt' Vera says, everybody is in shock

'My brother died unexpectedly from cardiac arrest and his wife was pregnant at the time but after she gave birth she didn't want the baby anymore so she gave the baby up for adoption' Ann says

'And you had no idea where the baby went to?' Kaz asks

'Not unti now' Ann says

'You were right about earlier' Kaz says

She and Marie looks at each, so does everybody else but Ann she's still in shock

'Right about what?' Vera asks, Marie tells them

'Looks like we dodge a riot bullet' Officer Jackson says

'For now yes' Vera says

'You don't have to worry about the inmates all they are worried about is just getting out of here' Kaz says, they sigh in relief

'But they also said that if Ann goes to them and starts rubbing it in their faces about them not doing anything about it then a riot will probably happen' Kaz says

'Another reason why that they probably won't do anything is because since we have Ann's blood related family member in here and if we hurt Kimberly Ann could hurt us too' Marie says

'That's why no other inmates wants to go with you guys' Officer Jackson says

'No I won't do that, I just need to go home and think about how to handle this situation the right way' Ann says, she gets up and leaves

'That's probably a good idea actually' Marie says

'I'll walk her to her car, you take Kaz and Marie back to the prison please' Vera says

'Yes Governor' Officer Jackson says

Vera leaves abd catches up with Ann, while Officer Jackson takes Kaz and Marie back to the prison where they tell everybody what just happened it's a mixture of relief and nervousness because now what is going to happen when Ann comes back
