Ch. 58: Surgery

It's the day of Maxine's surgery, Maxine is in the cafeteria excited and nervous about it, then everybody walks in and Maxine turns around and smiles, everybody walks up to her

'Well today is the day' Bea says

'Yeah, it is' Maxine says, nervously

'How do you feel love?' Liz asks

'Mostly nervous but excited, I just wish they would let Marie come with me' Maxine says, everybody laughs

'Why so she can protect you just in case something goes wrong?' Allie asks

'Well that but for some reason she has this energy about her that if you're nervous or worried about something they will go away eventually' Maxine says

'Have you been drinking before your surgery?' Kaz asks, everybody laughs

'No, I have not' Maxine says

'No, Maxine is right though' Boomer says

'How so?' May asks

'Well the time I broke my nose and I didn't want anybody to see me, she would stay there with me watching the door making sure that the only people that would come to see me was the screws and the nurse' Boomer says

'I see what you mean, when one of the riots happened and I got knocked out and lost a tooth, she paid for it and stayed there throughout the whole thing until they got done, she wanted to sure one they did it right and two to make sure that I was comfortable' Allie says

'Where is Marie at anyway?' Maxine asks

'She said that she had to talk to the Governor about something, she said that she will meet out in the front' Reb says

'It's time to go Maxine' Officer Stewart says

'Well here goes nothing' Maxine says, she hugs everybody and leaves

Maxine and Officer Stewart walks outside while the others watches from the yard and they walk up to Marie who's standing outside of the car

'You didn't think that I was going to let you go to the hospital by yourself, did you?' Marie asks, Maxine chuckles and hugs her

'Come on, let's go or we're going to be late' Marie says

Maxine gets in the car first, Marie looks back at the yard and winks at Kaz, Kaz winks back at her

'She's going with Maxine' Kaz says

'Good choice' Allie says

Marie gets in the car and they leave

A week later Maxine is still in the hospital recovering from the surgery and Marie just return to the prison and she walks in the yard because it's lunch time and everybody looks at her

'How did the surgery go for Maxine?' Tina asks

It's dead quiet because everybody wants to know what is going on, Marie looks at her

'Um, it was fine at first but something happened, but Maxine is fine now, she's recovering nicely at the hospital, once she's able to walk around they will bring her back here to recover at the medical building' Marie says

'What kind of something?' Joan asks

'There was a blood clot in her left brreast, her heart stop for a few seconds, but they got it back into rhythm and they fix the blood clot too' Marie says

'How long will she be recovering for?' Bea asks

'Six to eight weeks but now since she had a health scare, it's going to take twelve weeks, but don't worry she's already back to old self' Marie says

'How so?' Kaz asks

'Because she told me to tell Boomer that she's the one who put the purple hair dye in her shampoo bottle before she left' Marie says, everybody laughs

'Oh I'm going to kill her when she's done recovering, I have been trying to get this out of my hair for the pass week!' Boomer says

'Now will you let me do something about it?, after all I am a professional hair dresser' Bea says

'Fine' Boomer says

She storms away, Bea and the others follows her inside

Back inside in the showers, Boomer is in on of the showers while Bea is going what she needs to do to get the hair dye out of Boomer's hair
'How did Maxine even get a chance to do that?' Allie asks

'I don't know, but all I know that she's going to pay for this' Boomer says, everybody laughs

'I thought the surgery would a lot more smoothly than that' Marie says

'Poor Maxine' Boomer says

'I guess you can get blood clots anywhere in your body' Bea says

'Well all of our bodies has blood in it, so wherever there is blood, there's going to be a blood clot somewhere along the way' Allie says

'You're quiet since we came in here, what's going on with you?' Kaz asks to Marie

'I don't know I just got a uncomfortable feeling of leaving Maxine there by herself' Marie says

'I'm sure she's going to be fine, she's surrounded by doctors and nurses' Allie says

'Yeah but if you get just one blood clot, there's always going to be another one' Marie says

'Whoa, I didn't think about that until now, like a heart attack or a stroke' Boomer says

'Well let's hope that she doesn't have another one' Allie says

'Is this stuff supposed to burn?' Boomer asks

'No, why?' Bea asks

'Well it is' Boomer says

'Are you sure that Maxine put hair dye in her shampoo bottle?' Bea asks

'I mean, that's what Maxine said' Marie says

'This does look like hair dye either, it's more sticky' Bea says, Allie sniffs

'That smells like burning glue' Allie says

'She put color glue in my hair!?' Boomer asks

Everybody runs around trying to help Bea get the glue out of Boomer's hair, then Officer Miles walks in, in a panic

'Winter?' Officer Miles asks, everybody looks at her

'What is it?' Marie asks

'Maxine just a massive heart attack' Officer Miles says

'Oh my dear God' Boomer says, Everybody looks at each other in shock
