*3rd Person POV*

When Bree let out her third agonising scream, Leah's wolf started running. Darting into the forest that was engulfed in darkness. The whit and brown female wolf sprinted away from the vampire infested house and her new pack. Heading towards the area where she had last heard the sounds of a fight.

Weaving in and out of the trees and jumping over nature's obstacles, Leah showed no signs of slowing down. Determination flowed through her veins as her adrenaline pushed her forwards.

*Leah's POV*

I can't believe this is happening! I'm fighting on behalf of leeches! What a joke!

Vampires ruined my life! If they never existed, I wouldn't have become like this. My family would be normal. I'd still have my partner by my side. And my siblings wouldn't hate me!

When dad died, all I did was grieve the life I had lost. Everything was against me. Everyone hated me. I didn't belong anywhere. I was spiteful and angry, I was justified to feel those things!

But Seth was right... I never should have taken it out on Pearl. She was human. She didn't understand anything that was going on. She was in the dark about all of it. Her questioning was justified. But all I saw when I looked at her, was the life I desperately wanted. I want to be normal, be human. I was in so much pain and all I could think to do, was make her feel that same pain.

I never should've done that!

If I hadn't of hurt her, if I hadn't of treated her like shit! Maybe she'd still be human! Maybe she'd still be normal! She'd get to live her life!

She wouldn't have become one of them...

I don't blame her for leaving. I did tell her to get lost. I just can't believe, that she found a 'home' with a bunch of bloodsuckers. They're supposed to be our enemy. But then again, Pearl is a vampire now, so I guess all of the normal rules go out the window.

A deep growl echoed from my throat as I ran. It vibrated through my chest until it reached my ears.

It doesn't matter anymore! None of this matters! Pearl may be my enemy, she may be a freak of nature, and I may not understand any of the decisions she has made, but... she is still my little sister.

The same sister who let me cry on her shoulder when Sam dumped me. The same little kid who stood up for me and punched my bully in the balls when I was 11. The same person who always had my back.

I don't agree with her lifestyle, but I'll be damned if I let her die!

*3rd Person POV*

Leah's wolf barked loudly, announcing her presence for all to hear. Jumping down a small ledge, Leah's ears pricked. She could hear the sounds of snarling. It was coming from up ahead.

Speeding up her pace, the white and brown she-wolf broke through the trees and came face to face with the Uley pack and her little sister.

Sam's wolf was standing over Pearl's silver wolf while growling. Pearl was collapsed against a tree, trying desperately to get back up. Thick red blood coated her back and the bright red liquid was flowing out from an injury on her stomach. There were bite wounds and claw marks all over not only Pearl's body, but Sam's, Paul's and Jared's bodies as well. Pearl had put up a good fight.

Before anyone had time to react, Leah lunged at Sam, plowing into his side, she successfully knocked him away from the severely weakened Pearl. Leah took a defensive position next to her little sister, and let out a guttural growl that was a clear warning to stay away. It was enough to make the Uley pack hesitate in their advance.

Pearl managed to get back on her feet, albeit slowly and with a lot of struggling. Leah moved her wolf body so that Pearl could lean on her if need be. Pearl accepted the gesture and leaned on her older sister to be able to stand at her full height once again.

But with Leah partially focusing on helping Pearl, and Pearl putting all her energy into keeping her body upright, both she-wolves failed to notice the grey mass that lunged towards them.

Seeing them distracted, Paul took the opportunity and pounced at the girls, teeth bared, his claws outstretched.

Looking over her sister's shoulder, Pearl noticed the incoming threat just in time. 'LEAH!' She screamed through the mind link at her sister.

Acting quickly, Leah turns her head, muzzle raised, she latched onto Paul's neck and threw him away before he could land a hit on either one of them.

With the stand still broken, a switch was flipped within the male shifters. All of the Uley pack members advanced on the two she-wolves at once.

Their thoughts may have been silent to the two, but their eyes said it all. The Uley pack was going to kill them.

Using her last bit of strength, Pearl made both herself and her sister intangible. Causing all of the male shifters to fly straight through them.

With a large tree and a small rocky embankment behind Pearl and Leah, all members of the Uley pack flew head first into the solid surfaces. Effectively stunning themselves and for some, knocking themselves out.

Leah didn't get the chance to celebrate, because as soon as the shock of Pearl's gift wore off, her attention was brought back to her sister. Who had collapsed onto the ground and had stopped moving.

Leah's wolf whimpered and nudged Pearl's head, only to find her sister was completely limp. The silver fur of her sister's underbelly was now dark red.

Any remaining energy Pearl had before, dissipated completely when she used her gift on herself and her older sister.

Leah was desperately trying to wake her sister, but after a few minutes of nudging and gently nipping at her, she came to a shocking realisation.

The hybrid's heart... had stopped beating.
